Norcold 1210 replacement
https://carriage-lifestyle-owners.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3619
Posted: 11:58 AM – Jul 30, 2017I have a 2008, F35SB3 and want to replace my Norcold 1210 with a residential unit. I am looking for the best fitting replacement, door lock information and I question how well the glass shelves hold up with the roads getting worse every year?
We travel 6 to 7 months a year, mostly 200 miles per day. I try to always use full hook up RV Parks. I don’t believe I need to address DC/AC power while traveling.Posted: 1:01 PM – Jul 30, 2017My Sears / Whirlpool unit was almost an exact fit. Had to cut 1/4″ off of the width opening and lower the shelf it sits on by about 3/4″. No problems with the glass shelves and we travel with the fridge full of stuff. I also added an additional acrylic shelf for more storage. My Sears model number is 106.4112. Not sure of the Whirlpool equivalent.
Posted: 1:36 PM – Jul 30, 2017We replaced ours with a Samsung 3 door unit. Fit perfectly. Was less than $1k, has an ice maker (we did not hook up since we don’t full time) and is the quietest fridge I have ever been around. Its weight is just shy of the old Norcold, too. You’ll find lots of info on the site from those of us who have made the switch. Best mod I’ve ever done to any RV!Posted: 7:52 PM – Jul 30, 2017One of the biggest limitations to our Residential fridge search was finding one to fit through the door. The entry way is limited to 27 3/4 inches. That limits us to a Counter depth fridge and even some of those were too deep to fit in. We are looking at the Samsung RF18HFENBSR.Mark
Posted: 8:24 PM – Jul 30, 2017We were able to fit a full depth Whirlpool through the door with the fridge doors removed. Just fit through the 27 3/4 door with no room to spare.
ChipPosted: 8:58 PM – Jul 30, 2017Ditto on the Samsung 18, as well. With the doors removed, no issue. Plus the back is totally sealed so other the plug is go against the wall.Posted: 9:24 PM – Jul 30, 2017jdpm wrote:Ditto on the Samsung 18, as well. With the doors removed, no issue. Thanks.

Totally happy with it! It will have been in the rig 3 years soon and has been problem free. Its super quiet so much so there have been times I’ve questioned whether its running. In the FL heat, a 90+ degree cabin, it will cool to proper temps in both compartments in 3 hours or less. No regrets!

We will be back “home” in 2 weeks and will have access to tools and manpower, so it looks like by the end of August, we will be joining the Residential Frig group!

Posted: 3:37 PM – Aug 03, 2017I can’t see you’ll have any regrets unless you are a boon-docker without a genset or solar. We’re all standing by to help you along the way! Safe travels.Posted: 11:32 AM – Sep 05, 2017jdpm wrote:We replaced ours with a Samsung 3 door unit. Fit perfectly. It seems to me that Most of the Samsung R18’s you have to make a larger hole. What model is yours?

The model # is RF18HFENBSP. I just did the upgrade and it fits perfectly.

ChipWhat is the model number on that fridge?
Posted: 7:13 PM – Oct 01, 2017It has been a couple of weeks. I bought a Sears side by side with plain doors, no dispensers. Kenmore part # 41129, 21.5 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator – Black. The side by side will allow me to tie the two door handles together for traveling. I needed to remove the three inch wood trim at the top and shave 1/4 inch from a side piece. I moved the electric box and deleted the frig’s propane line. All propane fittings are bubble water tested, tight. Tomorrow I slide the frig in and onto my next repair. If anyone needs a little paneling, Carriage used the wall panel at the back of the Norcold’s for spacing. There’s a 3 x 4 foot section of factory panel that matches the walls. I needed a patch piece a couple of years ago and could not match the original panel. I came close but not exact. I saved the frig’s panel for later.
Thanks to all for your help and ideas.
