I’m sure this topic has been covered and beat to death. However, I did do a search for some common threads and could not find the answers I was looking for, so here is goes.

$200 for a FILTER!!?? Come on.

Has anyone replaced this 3M system with something different? What do you use, and where do you get the filters? How many Gallons Per Minute do they allow to flow through?

Also, I want to sanitize my fresh water system. Can I flush bleach through the inline filter, or does that have to be removed first? How do you flush it with a removed filter?

Thanks for your help and input.

You can get a replacement 3M filter for a little over 100.00. Here is a post that might interest you.

There is a bypass plg that you insert in place of the filter when sanitizing.

In answer to your question about a replacement. Yes. Both HE and Whirlpool make 10 inch by 4 inch filters for these filter bodies. Buy the following, and a few connection fittings, toss the filter that comes with it and replace with a 3 or 6 month charcoal filter and you are golden. Home Depot carries the GE brand, bit same thing.

        Zero psi or flow impact.
