        Hi everyone,

Hope you can help, we have a 2009 37RE3 Cameo with a generator prep, but no generator and I want to install a surge protector. I purchased a EMS-LCHW50 surge protector (hard wired) from Progressive Industries. I am looking for the tranfer switch to install the surge protector after it, for protection from the future generator and the shore power but cannot seam to find it. It is not in the front compartment. Where else would it be? Maybe it didn’t come from the factory installed. There is an electrial box marked ESCO, with it tagged, Safe Guard SG3030 is this the transfer switch?

Thanks for any help, it would be appreciative.

This is used as a Safeguard Gen Prep Circuit Breaker 2-30 Amp Breakers, Added Protection For Generator Against Shorts And Surges according to the web site where I found the info.

        Ccd0764,

The transfer switch is probably located behind the black wall panel at the rear of the main storage, somewhat below the main circuit breaker box upstairs. Pretty easy to remove that wall if the belly is empty. About a dozen square head screws, not all panels need to be completely removed, some can just be loosened to allowed the needed one to be removed. To remove some panels, you must disconnect the light on the panel. Add a quick disconnect to make this easier next time. I did not need to disconnect the basement 110 or cable outlets, as i only needed to loosen, not remove this panel. If the the Safeguard circuit breaker is mounted on that black wall, you will likely need to disconnect some wires from the back of it. Be sure to unplug from shore power when working on this- do not trust a campground breaker switch to protect you. Similarly, do not run a generator when working on the transfer switch or surge protector.
