- I’ve been trying to find a shorter 50-amp cord to use instant of the 50 footer. Many places the longer cord isn’t needed. I thought I bought one at a campground this past winter only to find out that it was a 50-amp extension and doesn’t plug into the trailer.Posted: 7:47 PM – Jul 08, 2013Just go buy a 50am plug that plugs into the trailer and cut the female end off and install the new plugPosted: 8:33 PM – Jul 08, 2013You can make an adapter so you could still use it for an extension cord. The 50 amp twist lock end for the RV will cost you anywhere from 70.00 to 100.00+ then you still would have to buy a short piece of wire big enough to Carry the load and a 50 amp male plug. Probably cost you 100.00+ when all said and done. There are 30 amp adapters with a 50 amp twist lock end you can buy and modify but they only have 10 or 12 gauge wire and not sufficient for 50 amp service.Posted: 7:20 AM – Jul 09, 2013I made my own 20 foot cord but as stated above the ends are expensive.Posted: 7:44 AM – Jul 09, 2013Here is a link to one of the adapters. You can build something similar with the correct wire size.

It has the 4- #6 wire and the correct plugs. With it you would have the best of both worlds and wouldn’t have to make anything. Here is a link to one on Amazon for 40.00 with free shipping. Chip
Posted: 6:16 PM – Jul 10, 2013Thanks Chip, I placed an order for one. It’s exactly what I needed and is far cheaper than buying or making a shorter cord. I can just use the 25′ extension cord I already have.Posted: 11:47 AM – Jul 14, 2013The order came in yesterday, the only problem is its marked as a 50amp to 50amp and that’s what I need. But it’s a 50amp male and a 30amp female end.Posted: 1:53 PM – Jul 14, 2013Looks like Amazon dropped the ball. That’s not what the description and pic show. Hopefully a quick phone call can straighten it out.Posted: 2:14 PM – Jul 14, 2013Here is Camco web site.http://www.camco.net/Products/Item?prod … emId=55562
It shows the 55562 to be 50 to 50

The product is a 55562 and is marked 50 to 50 but the female end is a three hole 30 amp. I tried calling, but its Sunday so I got a e-mail off to them.
Thanks for the follow up.
Posted: 3:29 PM – Jul 22, 2013Todays mail I received a replacement adapter and it works fine. The first one was marked as 55562 but in fact was something else. Now I can use my 25 foot 50amp cord as either an extension to my 50 or in many case just use it and not get the big one out.Don’t know about you but the factory 50 foot card has all kinds of kinks in it.
Posted: 11:25 AM – Jul 23, 2013I’m glad you got it worked out and they sent you what you ordered.
ChipPosted: 1:56 PM – Jul 23, 2013I have about 15-20 ft, if 50amp cord so, I can find many replacement connections to go to the elec. box. but can’t seem to find a connection to go the the RV.Posted: 2:33 PM – Jul 23, 2013bob6801 wrote:I have about 15-20 ft, if 50amp cord so, I can find many replacement connections to go to the elec. box. but can’t seem to find a connection to go the the RV.You can find one here but they are expensive. You have to buy the weatherproof cover as well.

You can almost buy a whole cord for what they want for the female plug. You should try ebay as well.
