- My refrigerator doesn’t work and it reads fl on the display. What does in mean and how to i correct the situation. ThanksPosted: 9:18 AM – Jul 16, 2015Geedo,
“F” fault code means the burner did not ignite.
“no” “FL” fault code means the same thing.
You must not be on camp 110/220 volt power, or if you are you must have frig set to “propane” not “auto.”
Is propane tank on?
Does it have propane? If tank has been off, propane can leak out of lines – the hot water propane valve relay is a likely source of a slow leak. Anyway, try lightning the stove. It may take several tries to get the air out of the line. Keep the 5er door open. Stop trying at the first sign of propane smell. Turn stove off, wait several minutes and try again. Once stove is running on propane, try the frig on propane again. It may take up to 3 tries to get the remaining air out of that short loop. Even after you get the air out of those two sections, there will be a bit in the furnace line. Furnace may also fail to start next time you turn it on, and may take another start or two to get that air out.
The stove is closest to the frig, and it is a lot easier to see what is going on… lighting or not.
Posted: 9:24 AM – Jul 16, 2015Is the slide in or out? There is a known problem of the gas line to the refer getting pinched when in the closed position.Posted: 9:33 AM – Jul 16, 2015If you have been dry camping, it is hard to use a full bottle of propane with just the frig and stove/oven. If you think you might have a large leak, best to check it out thoroughly. First stop is remove the outside cover to the hot water heater and sniff around. If you aten’t comfortable fixing this, get someone who knows what they are doing to fix it. Propane leaks can kill two ways, and although rare relative to the number of people with propane appliances, neither is a fun way to go..Posted: 3:10 PM – Jul 16, 2015Tried lighting the pilot with a match and it fired up for about 15 seconds and went out. Propane tanks are filled. I will follow John222 next time. ThanksPosted: 4:29 PM – Jul 16, 2015Geedo,How quickly I forget that I replaced the stove top striker with a battery operated igniter. It is easier for me to light thing up if propane is flowing.
The stove top is a lot easier to light than the oven. Ovens still have pilots which need heat from an external source like a long match or long propane/butane powered charcoal lighter for several minutes. The stove top on the other hand should just stay lit.
If you get the 15 seconds each time you wait 20 minutes, you either have a very low tank, an auto tank switcher pointing to the wrong tank and showing red, or a kinked supply line.
That said, I once, and only once because I fixed it after two years, had to lift out the stove grill, and tip the top back to re-attach the burner feeder lines where they come from the central distribution point and striker spark area. Since I was in that far, I bought a regular grill replacement battery operated igniter and wired it to the location where the striker spark end was. I did have to drill or enlarge a hole in the face of the stove, but it is completely covered by the igniter button. If I remember it was a tight but easy fit. If this is the reason the stove quits after 25 seconds. You may have bled the line and reestablished proper flow.
If you fire up the furnace and it quits after running a few seconds, you do not have a kinked line unless it is where the propane tanks are stored or you hit a big enough rock to crush a 1/2 in steel propane line. There are no flexible lines to the furnace. But, the flexible line in the slide, seen from underneath where there is a hinge. Is the single line that feeds the frig, stove/oven, and the hot water heater.
Posted: 5:31 PM – Jul 17, 2015FWIW, I had a truck camper water heater that had the same symptoms. I fired up the air compressor with a high pressure nozzle and gave it a good dose of compressed air. Fixed the problem never to return.Posted: 11:05 AM – Jul 18, 2015Well I tried all of the above and it still only stays on for 15 to 20 seconds. I have to light it manually. I am thinking it must be something electrical.
Thanks for the info. I have learned a little from each suggestion. Into the shop it goes. SEE YAPosted: 9:30 AM – Jul 20, 2015Will it run on electric?Posted: 6:54 AM – Jul 21, 2015Yes it will MOO.Posted: 8:13 AM – Jul 21, 2015I’m not sure how a refrigerator detects if the flame is burning? Maybe there is a thermocouple to detect the flame and it has failed. I know it has a spark igniter but there must be something to turn of the gas if it does not detect a flame or heat after a predetermined time.Posted: 3:03 PM – Jul 23, 2015Do you have Mud Dobbers in the area? I was just wondering if they may have built a nest in a bad location for proper air flow.B.W.Gentry
