- I have a 2012 37RSQ which has a closet for a washer/dryer combo. The unit will not take one of each. The closet is located forward right side in the bedroom. My question. If I got a vented dryer combo where would the hole go for the vent. There are no markings and with limited space in that closet I want to be sure I don’t hit anything when it is installed. I anyone has a similar set up please explain how and where it was done and maybe some pics. I was told that the dryer with the vent is better than one without the vent.Posted: 10:54 AM – Jan 13, 2013When I installed out vent I just located a spot on the wall behind the dryer as close to the dryer outlet as possible. You can knock on the wall and hear the difference where the studs are. Make sure you land off to the side of a stud. I then took a razor knife and cut a small square out of the luan wall sheathing and poked around with my finger to make sure there weren’t any wires or plumbing in the way. After determining the area was clear I cut the round hole in the inside wall with a razor knife and cut the insulation out of the way. I found the center of the hole and drilled a small hole from the inside to the outside of the wall. Next I used a hole saw from the outside to make the hole for the vent. You want to drill it from the outside and start slowly. If you try to hole saw from the inside you will splinter the fiberglass when you push through. I used the chrome deluxe Splendid vent cover with flap from PPL and a short flex line. You can use any dryer vent but the low profile chrome one looks factory. It’s an easy job if your handy with tools.Posted: 11:29 AM – Jan 13, 2013We have the 35SB3. Our vent is installed 18″ back from the inside of the cabinet door face frame and 24″ above the floor. Hope that helps.Posted: 6:09 PM – Mar 17, 2013Above sounds good. Now all I have to do is sell my home, so we can get ready to full-time and get that W/D combo.Posted: 7:49 PM – Mar 25, 2013Here is a blog post on my install of exactly what you’re talking about: http://c3finallyfree.blogspot.com/2011/ … alled.htmlPosted: 9:53 AM – Dec 09, 2013Well, we are now full-timing. We are looking into a Washer Dryer combo unit and I have noticed that LG has a top rated unit that is ventless. They do not make a vented unit. Splendide makes a vented unit. I have noticed that parts for the later are only available through one U.S. location. Has anyone had experience with the LG ventless unit? The blogs I have been reading claim that drying due to better technology is equal between the two. My measurements are W=24″: H=33 3/4: D=27″.
I am torn between the two brands and methods. I am open to any and all recommendations and experiences.Splendide has a couple of models, while LG has only one (WM 3455HW) that I am aware of.Posted: 10:03 AM – Dec 09, 2013For what it is worth: We have had a vented Splendide for ten years and it worked very well without any breakdowns. All-in-Ones tend to be slow and the load capacity is modest. That said we wouldn’t have an RV without one. I also like the vented aspect. The moisture has to go somewhere and I want it outside.Posted: 1:08 PM – Dec 09, 2013I haven’t used it much yet, but we have a ventless Splendide. According to them, it uses water to condense out the moisture (and lint) and it goes down the drain hose. It uses 2.5 gal of water/hr of drying. I don’t notice any moisture in the trailer, but there is a “chemical” smell in the air after drying. It isn’t terrible, but I hope it lessens with more use. The machine is very quiet, but the whole trailer vibrates a bit during the spin cycle. Mostly, we’ll probably start it before going out for the day, and come back to clean/dry laundry.Posted: 6:44 AM – Dec 10, 2013I cannot comment on the quality of LG’s combo unit, but I can on its customer service. It is terrible. Even if you register your purchase on line or via mail, and they see that when you call for repairs, they demand that you provide the original sales receipt or no warranty. Their repairmen stock no parts, so a repair always takes at least two visits with an interval in between to have the parts shipped, even if you tell them exactly what has broken before the first visit. If i were you, …
Ventless models work great in dryer climates. They take a bit longer to dry the clothes in the humid south and other humid areas/days.
