Our Cameo is going on 2 years old and I have always been very pleased with the refrigerator performance – especially on a/c. It has always cooled better on a/c. After the first night at camp, we have to turn the thermostat down from the setting of 9 to 5 or 6 to maintain 34 degrees.
Anyway, the LP performance seems to be deteriorating. I turn the refrig on to LP, setting 9, at the storage lot the night prior to our departure. Normally it is into the mid to upper 30’s when we load up. This week when we left, the temp in the box was 39. I loaded it up with the contents (all of which were already cold from the refrig at home) and set off for a 5 hour journey. On both of my stops, I checked the refrig and had no error codes and it still showed lite and the temp was rising. Upon arrival the temp was 54 degrees in the box. Driving conditions provided outside temps in the lower 90’s. The refrig performed fine on a/c while at camp.
During our stay, I heard the cooling fans cycle and I did a check to see if the auto function was working, etc. I an hear the burner but very faintly. Gas levels in the bottles are good.
On our return trip, when I awoke, I manually switched the refrig to LP and turned the setting to 9. On the 5 hour return trip the regrig rose from 34 to 44 degrees. Driving conditions were better with heavy rains and temps in the upper 70’s to lower 80’s.
Any suggestions to why the regfrig is not performing the way it used to on LP? The only thing I know of to do is check and clean the orifice. As always, any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Phillip

I noticed the exact same thing on my Norcold. On LP it seems not to cool as well as it once did but is fine on AC. On LP I have to keep it on 9 to keep things in the freezer frozen but it then gets too cold in the fridge. I’m going to try sliding the sensor on the fins down a little to see if that helps although on AC everything is fine and I could probably leave the setting on 6 or 7. I checked to make sure there were no restrictions in the vents and all is well there. I get this sinking feeling that I’m on my way to the same place you are Phillip.

I don’t have any inconstancies in the temps of each compartment. I know the freezer gets cold first and then the refrig box. I have a digital wireless thermometer hanging from the last shelf just above the crispers and a analog one in the freezer. On ac set on 6, the freezer will be 0 – 5 degrees and the refrig will be at 35.
In my case, I think my situation on LP has something to do with a dirty burner and/or orifice. The manual indicates how to clean it so I will do so next week. In the FL heat, we have to keep that refrig cold during travel! Phillip

Update on refrig cooling on LP:

The refrig performance on LP is for crap at this point and I do not know else to do. Last week, I cleaned the burner. It looked a little bit dirty but not bad at all. I also removed the flue baffle to check for dirt or obstructions. I also cleaned the orifice. All the other LP appliacnes perform fine on LP. OK, so I’m all set!
Wrong. I turned on the refrig on Monday 7pm Monday evening and at 12 noon on Tue it was at just 50 degrees. The freezer was at 20. I noticed the coil cooling fan running when I walked by the refrig vent. So that is functioning.
On my 90 minute to the campground, the unit did not get any colder. I’m currently camping and it has been in the mid 90’s. Like usual, the unit is cooling flawlessly in this heat since plugging into shore power and running on electric. It is set on “7” and the freezer is 5degrees and the refrig is 34 degrees.
I can hear the cooing fan cycle on and off. I know the venting is still not really adequate even with the fan, I can toake off the upper cover and the fan stops running within 15 seconds.
The unit used to cool just fine on LP. I don’t know what else to check. The unit will not have been in use 2 years until September. Any suggestions…..I do not want to ditch it yet for a residential fridge. Thanks, Phillip
