- CLOC-AdminAs I was walking my dog this morning I noticed a large pool of water under my 5’er. I had water pouring out of my belly pan. I took everything out of the shelves and looked behind my washer/dryer and an anti siphon device had water pouring out of it. I turned off the water and opened my facets but it was still running water out. I took my supply line hose loose and no change. I’m taking off work early today to repair this. I just replaced all the fiberglass insulation last summer in the belly pan and now it’s soaked again. Grrrrrrr!!!!!
Are there any tricks to pulling the washer out of that very tight hole?? Do I need this anti siphon device or could I just put a 90 on it and call it good???

ChuckPosted: 8:14 AM – Mar 23, 2016Looking at you profile I notice you don’t have a Carriage or Lifestyle so hard to say what you should do. Most new RV’s have a back flow preventer built in at the supply hookup in the docking station and not behind the washer. Sure, you could bypass it and get rid of it but you should check and see if you have one built in. Also a lot of the RV parks are starting to put a screw on preventer on the hose bibs to reduce the chances of contamination. This now code in Texas.The device is there to prevent your washer from siphoning back into the water system if there is a loss of water and contaminating the waterlines in a park. I do have a vacuum breaker under my sink for the black tank rinse but it is on a separate water line and truly believe they should be there and in working order.

Posted: 2:35 PM – Mar 23, 2016I’m assuming it’s only on the cold water side? If so, you can replace it with something like this 1/2″ PVC In-Line Check Valve. Most water heaters have a built-in check valve so no need on the hot water line.

Or get rid of it and install a check valve at the fresh water hose connection like this one or something similar.

Or bypass and remove it completely.

The other one I deleted because it was a bad image and didn’t show up. He’ll need to repost it. It’s really sad that our older posts with image illustrations are disappearing. Posted: 9:06 PM – Apr 02, 2016I found where folks were having issues with the black plastic back flow valve. I had one and replaced it with a Brass Anti-Siphon Vacuum Breaker made by Cash Acme before having any issues. They are on Amazon. Can’t tell what you have and falconhunter will forget more about this stuff than I’ll ever know, but thought I’m mention this. I don’t trust plastic junk parts, so I replaced it to be safe.B.W.Gentry
