Hi everyone. Not sure if it’s my imagination or not, but this forum doesn’t seem to be as active as it used to be. Rich

Hi Rich. No….its not your imagination. It has almost dried-up and I suspect its due to its difficulty in navigating, the lag time, etc., etc. I know B W worked really hard to get everything moved over and I certainly am grateful for all his work, however, the new format is awful. Its very hard to find anything especially if searching for something in particular. The old one was so much easier. The IRV2 forum is much easier to use, too. I have chatted with a couple of other members who feel the same way one in particular saying that she doesn’t even log onto it any more. I hate to loose it as its has been so beneficial to me and many of us as there are things about the Carriage and LS fivers that we may not find on the other forums. I do not know if there’s any solution but I sure do wish the old format was back. Phil

I agree, loads really really slow (in todays world) , like using dialup and hard to navigate. Not as useful as before.

KeymasterSorry for those that are having frustrations. I can only say that I’m working diligently and daily to improve the Forum. I was on LiveChat with Support Techs for hours yesterday and the day before. They are still working on some issues and have upgraded support to a higher level. As far as the navigation, it’s exactly the same format as we had on the forum prior. I think the navigation issue that may be experienced is due to the copied forums/topics that were moved over from the TapaTalk Forum in order to preserve them. The manor in which they had to be saved (several replies combined into one), results in it being more difficult to do a “Search” on this forum. Hopefully, things will improve as issues are being worked on. All I can offer you now is excuses and explanations and appeal for patience although it’s difficult. Thanks, B.W.
Believe me, I’m sharing in your frustrations, but hanging in there to keep us alive.
Facts:
- Forum activity “always” slows down this time of year (Holidays, Weather, etc.) as most are not traveling or using their rigs at all. It always picks up going into Spring.
- We have more members now than in the last 3 years.
- We lose members and gain new members.
- Some members sell their rigs, new members buy them.
- We get at least 3 new members weekly
- Most members we lose, I suspect, is they don’t realize their member expiration has occurred. Don’t check back unless they personally have an issue they need help with. Then they renew/reactivate their account.
- It appears that most Active Members don’t log in unless they’re having an issue that they need help with.
- There are a few that are Die-Hard Members that login daily and sometimes multiple times a day.
- The majority of New Members only join because they need help with an issue, once resolved, don’t return because they’re only concerned with their issues and no one else’s.

B W your hard work and time is really, really appreciated. I know myself and many others on here over the years couldn’t be without this forum. My expressing my frustrations, please understand that I by no means want to sound ungrateful and please be assured that I appreciate your time consuming work. Hopefully it will get better and user activity will resume like it did in the past. Sincerely, Phil

KeymasterPhil,
I totally understand and I know everyone appreciates the Forums’ existence or they wouldn’t be members here. I assure you, I share and experience the same frustrations. I’ve been working all morning on making adjustments on the backend behind the scenes trying to improve page loading time. I too am extremely hopeful things will improve. I pretty much believe that we’ll have to put up with this format as I don’t think it would survive another move.

First I want to thank you BW! Efforts appreciated.
2nd I am logging in only a couple times a week due to the slowness. Trying to be proactive to try and help someone since so much graciousness has been shown to me.
The old saying goes “Patience is a virtue ” applies here.
Thank you to all who have helped in the past.

KeymasterWith the subject of Navigation difficulty within the Forum, I just want to say that I’m totally open to suggestions on how to improve it. I will make every effort to make any necessary changes. Categories, Sub-Categories, Forums and how they’re listed or organized. Whatever. I’m here to please.
Thanks, B.W.

I would also like to give a big thank you to BW for all the hard work on the forum. Having bought our LS only 2 years ago as 2nd owner the data in the forum and knowledge base of the members has been a god-send to us. We so greatly appreciate the forum and BW.
I also have not logged in much lately due to slowness, and searching difficulties.
I would suggest cutting back on the JavaScript , graphics, and flash on all the pages. Make them very simple, less graphics , maybe even change the forum to plain text. The more images and JavaScript code on a page will affect the servers processing. Maybe look at a php based forum software ?
Again thanks BW and we are so grateful for all you do.

JoAnn,
Thank you and thank you for the excellent suggestions. I will be working on all of them. I know they’re resource hogs. I have found a major culprit also contributing to the slowness and is also causing a conflict on the backend. It’s the Plugin/App that displays and provides the downloading of all the PDF Files. I have found a couple of alternative plugins to replace it and in the process of testing. The problem right now is, I have to leave the culprit active while I get hundreds of files switched, so that will hinder the slowness some until that’s completed. I’ve installed a program that compresses the size of all graphics/images so that will help also. In the cPanel and phpAdmn, I’m running a “repair” and “optimize” on all the database tables weekly now.
Again, thank you for your help and suggestions. I will work on all of them and thank you for being a member.
B.W.
