The slide stopped working on the full wall slide on my 2015 lifestyle 36FW, I pulled the brake off of the motor and the slide works fine. In and out with no issues, put the brake back on the motor and nothing. Local RV shop can’t find replacement for the brake, anyone have any idea where I can find the replacement brake or the whole motor and brake assembly? I have used the trailer without the brake its fine on the freeway, but we drive a lot of two-lane roads here in Northern CA. and the slide will start to work its way out on right hand corners, any information on where to find the parts to fix would will be appreciated!
Thank You

Rod,
I know someone found a source for the FWS motors, but I just do not remember how long ago. I do believe it was after all of the importing of old data on non- readable pdf’s so you should be able to be able to use the search engine.
Gold level access provides a list of slide motor/component vendors (and for many, many other parts). Hit the hotline on the slide grouping so you don’t have to scroll down so far
I know that the FWS setup was an AI-KO product. They were bought out by Lippert. That is not where the forum member found the motor. I think a 3rd party made the motors for AI-KO.
All that said, I would not think the brake would cut power to the motor, but rather work/drag against the motor. Motor not moving usually happens when one of the 3 relay switches goes bad. Did someone perhaps take the motor brake off and mix up the wiring before you first had this “motor not working” issue? I know some FWS brake switches function and some do not, depends on model year. Any chance that the toggle “brake” switch above or next to the motor toggle switch is set in the wrong position?

We have a 2013 36FWS. I tried to buy a part for the large slide motor a few years ago. The tag on my motor indicates it was built by
Klauber Machine & Gear (KMG)
1101 Geartech Parkway
Pacific, MO 63069Phone: 636-257-3002
They would not sell me parts. They said I would have to buy a complete motor. Not sure if they would sell or tell you the supplier for the brake.

DO NOT manually move the wall slide with the motor attached to electricity!
A cheap solution, NEED TWO. Thanks to my RV shop, buy some 2×4’s (or 2×6’s). With the slide wall all the way in, measure the distance from the exterior wall to the slide wall cut a piece of lumber 1/4″ shorter and place between the wall and the end of the slide wall to stop it from moving out. Which lumber to use: my wall slide sits about 2″ above the floor when retracted. I added a wedge to the top of my 2×4’s so the 2×4 would not slip under the slide wall. Cut a 4-6″ piece of 2×4 diagonally and screw it on top or a 2×6″ should work. I dressed it up with some cushioning on the ends to prevent scratches.
From experience, the brake is so strong it will brake off the manual nut. THE MOTOR IS NOT REPAIRABLE. I just did this on my second motor. I have an appointment to put in a new motor on 5/25. For some reason on returning home from winter down south my wall slide would not retract on shore power, I even changed the limit switch. All doors closed. I have an ’11 Carriage-Lite bought new. I really got into the mechanics with the last motor but didn’t want to take everything out of the basement, remove all the walls etc. this time. And it was coming in fine manually. MISTAKE, I was watching the bottom. 2″ to go and the nut let loose. New motor needed. A roving mechanic pointed out the top comes in first, so it added pressure to the manual nut. Weird thing is on a whim the next morning I had my wife try the slide and it popped right in. Mine is the Klauber K01389A350 (original B350 no longer available) $449.99 on E-bay no shipping Leisure Coach Works ($499.99 + shipping on their site), I am waiting to order the motor until the 18th as there is only a 30 day return policy. Klauber does not have this motor I talked to them.
Note other motor issues: try reversing the black and red wires if the slide does not come in, (normally motor reverses polarity to reverse); the brake has 4 bolts holding the magnet on. If you put in 3 of the bolts loosely you can force spring in the magnet onto the motor (been a long time since I did this, the spring requires many hands otherwise in a small space) or I understand if you apply power to the motor the magnet will retract the brake and it should go on easily, never done this as it seems the motor would have to be removed. Also the wires to the brake from the motor are incredibly thin and imbedded in that green electronic plastic. I’d like to know how a replacement is attached.
