        Hey everybody.
I have to install our Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C in our new-to-us 2010 32FWS.
I’m just curious as to if the rear pass through storage area is the easiest location to install it?
If so, can anybody familiar with this specific model of fiver give any helpful tips?
This EMS system had been wired into our old Hitchhiker Champagne by me previously, but I had all of the room in the world to mount it under our bedroom dresser.

        Thanks for any assistance.

Sorry, I don’t have the same rig as you. I have a 2011 36max1 with a full wall slide. I mounted mine behind the wall in the main mid ship pass through storage compartment where the transfer switch used to be. Only a few screws to get the wall off. I fished the readout wire up to the cabinet behind the toilet. I wanted it as close to the breaker panel as possible. It was easy to install it there because I removed the transfer switch years ago and already had a junction box there and just used this in it’s place. It may be worthwhile to look behind the wall in the storage area if it is close to your breaker panel. Also’ there was all kind of room and plenty of extra wire there.

Appreciate the response. Unfortunately, our midship isn’t a passthrough on the 32FWS model.
We just have an access door to access the water pump, and full wall slide motor/mechanism on the drivers side. No 50 amp line voltage line near there.
        Thanks for your reply though.

I don’t have a 32FWS either, but mounted mine on the bulkhead at the rear compartment. I bought either a dryer or electric range cord at a surplus goods retailer, as I needed a short length. I fed the readout panel through the floor vent and mounted on the rear wall where it is readily visible. I bought a second readout kit that I mounted in the rear compartment, so I can check while hooking up.

In our former Cameo and our current LS, I mounted it in the left rear “trunk” compartment just behind the wall where the shore power comes into the coach. I mounted the remote display inside the kitchen trash compartment. It was fairly easy to run the data cable under the basement and up into that area. Good luck and safe travels.

Ours is mounted just like “jdpm” said. Inside the rear compartment, the little carpeted wall on the left is not attached, it just sits there and they put it inside that. Very short wire from the camper plug to the unit. I would have done it different so that I would not have to move the wall to see the display, but this is how the dealer installed it. I do not have the remote display.

        FireEMT,

You may not have a pass through, but in the rear black wall in the main storage area is easily removed. Once removed, there is a lot of floor space to work with – ceiling space too, but you can’have hang much weight from the top because the the thin flooring you do not want to put a screw up into the linoleum or carpet – ouch! Also under the floor of storage is probably a holding tank, so do not use long screws!!

You will find the heavy 50 amp wiring runs from the rear of the 5er all the way forward to the circuit breaker box in the bathroom. Once that black wall was removed that wiring and a lot of plumbing pipes are easy to see. I found a good spot on the floor or ceiling to place the unit. My wiring was long enough that I did not need to add a junction box and short length of wire to make the connection. If you need to add a length of wire, lug connectors are best.

Shore power is disconnected of course!!

Remember that when you cut the 5er wiring you will need to support the wiring withe a conduit bracket or similar if it hangs down – the wire lugs are not meant to support the weight of 3 feet of that thick wire. I installed the screen monitor above the circuit breaker box in the bathroom, inside the wooden door that hides the circuit breakers.

Since I had more than half of the rear wall of the storage area removed – it is 3 or 4 sections, I elected to take it all out. I had central vac connection, TV connection, and power in one panel, but easy to do. There was a lot of extra space back there! So I rerouted a few water lines, reshaped (cut panel, trimmed edge, even changed the angles) and ended up with a lot of left over black wall paneling and a lot larger storage area. I also took this opportunity to lay linoleum on the storage floor and slightly into the area behind my relocated wall. Thus the screws/trim that hold the wall in place holds the linoleum down along that edge.

        JohnD222,

I appreciate the help. But, in our 32FWS the breaker panel is actually on the “doorside” in the cabinet above the head of the bed. We were considering a 36FWS, which I am thinking may have been the better option for us, but was even harder for us to find. It is such a “change” from our Hitchhiker Champagne, to the 32FWS.

        Thanks,
        Steve

Just wanted to give a heads up to anybody else with 32FWS.
I ended up finding the 50 amp main wiring running behind the stairs, near the vacuum. I ended up mounting it vertical above the vacuum system, to the frame rail.
Worked like a charm. It fits great, between the entry wall, and the side storage area beneath the bathroom. I ended up mounting the remote display with the bypass switch, right between the vacuum port, and the fire extinguisher near the entry.
