I bought a 3M B3 replacement cartridge last year from Star Marine for $110. This year I went back to order again and the price has increased to 287 bucks. Anyone getting a good deal on these anywhere. The cheapest I found was 179 plus shipping.

        Thanks in advance.

        Hi Mark:

Best price that I could find for a business that had inventory:

You’re not going to get a 3M B3 Replacement cartridge anywhere for $20-30. Here is a post from a while back with several sources listed in the thread.

I’ve been told the 3M B3 cartridges are no longer being manufactured. I found an entire install kit for $187, and that was about the only availability I found anywhere.

I’ll try to find a source of supply for these (or a suitable replacement) and if successful I’ll post an update.

Here is where I get mine. This is the large one. I have never had an issue of it being too heavy. This was a concern of mine when I used the first one 6 years ago.

        Moo,

Can the larger capacity 3M filters be used in the same unit as the smaller? I bought a B2 if I’m not mistaken and it has 7500 gallon capacity. I see that the HF-60 says it’s good for 35,000 gallons and price is about it the same. Did you have to plumb a new unit?

It works just fine with your existing unit.

I talked with 3M customer service (http://www.3mwater.com/customer-service/) and was told that the 3MFF101 filter, P/N 5613432 should be a snap in replacement for the B-2 filter, and there is no replacement for the B-3 cartridge. The capacity for the 3MFF101 is 6000 gallons and 2.5 GPM.

I have no direct experience with trying to use these on the existing installation, so would suggest that anyone that tries this choose a supplier with a fair and reasonable return policy.

I ordered a 3M HF60-S filter today from Amazon for 101.68 and free shipping. Same specs and micron as the B3 at half the price and 35000 gallons compared to 15000 gallons. Might be a couple inches taller but shouldn’t be a problem. I will post side by side pics when it arrives. If it works fine I will order a couple more at that price.

The new 3M HF60-S filter came in today. Same size as the expensive B3 filter I was using. I will install it this weekend and will order a couple more.

Falcon Hunter, it looks like the 3M HF60-S would be a good replacement for the B3 that I have now. Did it fit into the connection properly with no leaks?
