4 Great Videos from the former Carriage website
Postby jdpm » 29 Jan 2013 23:58These are great videos and have some great footage of Carriages in the factory. Thought I’d share as I found them very intersting. Kind of sad, too. Phillip

Re: 4 Great Videos from the former Carriage website
Postby Silver Top » 02 Feb 2013 19:49Hello A&J, :)
In response to you inquiry about how to save the videos in the link above provided by jdpm. I have done some experimenting and came up with this solution.
From the link provided by jdpm or you can type in the address bar (http://www.partheinc.wordpress.com) and scroll down to the article that reads Carriage Resort Vehicles.
On the first video click on the play button, then immediately go to the bottom left corner of the video and press the stop button so the video don’t play.
Then go up to the top left corner of the video window and you will find a Share drop down list. Click on the h-264 download button and the video will start up in your Media Player.
I let the video play almost all the way through. While you can hear the video you may also be able to see. At the bottom of you screen in the task bar should be a Media Player Icon. If you left click the Icon you will see the video recording. If you right click it you will get a pop-up box with several tasks listed. At the very top of the box or window is the word pinned. When the video is almost completed you can highlight the video that was playing. On the right side of the highlight you will see a pin icon. Click on the pin icon to pin it to the playlist.
Now go over to the windows start button and find and open Windows Media Player. On the left side of the media player window you will see a list of files including the words Library, then playlist, music, videos, pictures, and record tv. Click on the playlist file. Then go to the very lower right corner of the media player window you will find a small icon with 3 blue squares and an arrow. Click on the icon and another window pops-up with the words PLAY ALL, GO TO LIBRARY, PLAY PREVIOUS LIST. Click on play previous list and that should bring you back to the Windows Media Player window. On the right side of the window at the top you will see SAVE LIST icon and below that you will see a words (LAST PLAYED) with two arrows one on each side and below that is the video that was played. If yoy scroll over the words LAST PLAYED where the two arrows are. A window opens and I typed the name( Carriage Video 1) then I went up to the top where it says SAVE LIST and clicked on the button to save to list. By doing this to all 4 videos I now have them save in my Windows Media Player play list file. You do have to type in a new name for each video. I typed Carriage Video 1 for the first video, then Carriage Video 2 for the second video and so on.
Hopefully this will work for you, or maybe someone else may have a more simple way.
Good Luck!fred

Re: 4 Great Videos from the former Carriage website
Postby Jpcovert1 » 02 Feb 2013 21:36When we were investigating options for a be coach about three years ago the videos played a part in confirming my belief that Carriage built a good coach. It would have been nice in Glen Cushman had kept his eye on te ball and tended to the basics of running a business. We were crestfallen when word go out that Carrage was losing shop. After adjusting to that reality, we are very happy we bought our Cameo – we love the floor plan, the finishes are beautiful and (knock on wood) we have not had any problems.

Postby pigdoc » 03 Feb 2013 11:38At the Des Moines RV show yesterday a dealer had a really nice F37RSQ new 2012 with full paint (looked great). His spin on Carriage shutting down was that they paid the workers an average of $30/hour while all other RV builders paid only $20 hour, and went down because of that. Is this real or just sales ‘spin’?

I bet the paint job looks great. I don’t have that, but it is still attractive.

Re: 4 Great Videos from the former Carriage website
Postby rwb_wl » 12 Feb 2013 19:14I know that my dealer had over $30,000 due from Carriage for warranty repairs. Another dealer had not been paid for many months, so did Carriage overpay their staff, and stiff their dealers?
Here in Canada, all the larger RV manufacturers no longer produce RV’s due to almost par US and Canadian dollar, cost of RV components in Canada, such as furnaces, fridges, etc. I was told by an RV dealer that it was also the higher wages to get good workers

Postby ciara_belle » 26 Mar 2014 10:56at an RV show in VA we were told by a previous employee (director of sales at redwood-rv i believe) that the reason the company went under was because the Exec / Owner took off with the money (he was on an island vacation) rather than paying the corporate loans. And that most of the employees were absorbed into redwood-rv.

Postby Traveler » 26 Mar 2014 16:26Not sure if the owner or top executives took off to live the good live or not, but a few of the executives took off to form Redwood. When the plant closed many Carriage employee moved over to Evergreen to design, built and start manufacturing of the new Lifestyle RV.
Just my opinion, but I think that the group that moved over to Lifestyle did a better job than the top boys that moved to Redwood.

As a previous redwood owner, Lifestyle is far superior in all aspect, hands down.

Re: 4 Great Videos from the former Carriage website
Postby Brantlaker » 17 Mar 2016 08:05I know that this is a old Post but it does show the manufacturing of some of the old Carriage RV’s. To bad that Lifestyles does not make them the same way. The workmanship on my 2016 Alfa is no better than my 2012 Cougar. My DW was in the Office Furniture Business most of her life and has a critical eye for quality and was disappointed. Evergreen has downgraded to sell more product and increase profit.
