Some states/counties allow box stores to run the fireplaces do you can “see” the flame action.
Dedicated propane/fireplace stores may sell you the needed unit without the wooden cabinet, but box stores only sell them with a cabinet. Sum for the largest firebox/log set that will fit in that opening . Take the 2 doors off and measure carefully. You will need to remove that shelf – easiest if you cut it into a few pieces then remove the screws holding it together. There will be an outlet in the very back or you can drill a 2+ inch hole sideways or up to get to the outlets there. power cord is plenty long.
I used 1×4 oak, stained colonial maple and it matches maple cabinet almost perfectly.
The way it works is that all of the fireplace boxes screw into the cabinets they com in. They are screwed into the front wood panels from the rear with 3-4 screws on each side and the top. You unscrew those screws from the back and slide the firebox out the back. There is about a 1-inch lip on each side and top, but flat surface in the bottom.
You then slide the box into the camper’s cabinet. Looking at those ugly metal fastening flanges right? This is where the 1×4 wood trim comes in. You slide the firebox back out and use those same fastening screws to fasten the firebox to your frame on the sides and top. Then push the firebox back into the hole (plug it in first) and use cabinet screws to screw your framing into the 5er’s cabinet. HOWEVER, since there is no air circulation in that cabinet it is best to cut 1/4 inch thick openings into the center portion of the top trim piece.
Almost all allow flames with or without heat. Most have 2 heat fan speeds. Some have led versus incandescent bulbs, but if using for heat the incandescent is no issue. We have had ours for over 7 years and back then leds with limited spectrum and were less realistic – that may have changed.
Kitchenaid convection microwave has built in air drier. heavy and sticks out a bit but very useful. Our first upgrade to the Lifestyle – we have in our stick house and our just sold Cameo 36FWS too.
