Last year, I noticed my black bathroom vent was crumbling. You know, the lid that opens and closes. Oddly, it’s covered by an wind/rain cover. I would have thought it was sun exposure otherwise. So, I order another cover made by Camco I believe and replaced it. Not a big deal. Today, I’m out in the yard and look up to find the outer black cover over the shower skylight was busted. So, I look ant it’s falling apart too. Now, I have to find that cover and replace it. Anyone else having this issue? I mean, my RV is an 09 and you’d think they would have tested such things to ensure they last at least a few more years, huh? Also, if you know of a source to purchase the dark outer cover, please let me know.

I had to replace the skylight over the shower in my 2010 F36fws. My fault. Hit a tree limb and cracked the outer portion. Replaced that portion but had condensation. Learned later that it was an inner and outer matched set. Had a complete set replaced and it is fine. Had Fox RV in Middlebury Ind. do the service. He should be able to tell you where to get the part. I am going to replace the vent over the toilet with a Fantastic Fan like in the kitchen. Will have Fox do that also when I am there the 2d week of May. Do not be penny wise and pound foolish, replace the complete unit.

Mine got busted up traveling with it partially up. Go up and remove it and then go to Camping
world. I think they are all pretty much uniform. You will a pair of pliars and screwdriver to pop it off the hinge.

        Monty,
The vent fan covers are easy to replace by replacing just the cover. However, as stated earlier, replacing with a Fantastic Fan (FF) is so much better because you are moving so much more air. The 14×14 inch square hole requires about 2-3 hours to remove the old fan base and replace with a new FF. I used a plastic scraper to remove the old caulk being careful not to damage the rubber roof. Once the 16 to 20 screws are removed the old fan is out and the new fan is ready to go in. A butyl caulk base with the new fan over it makes for a snug seal once the screws are in. But it is advised to take dycor caulk and generously cover any screws or gaps around the edge of the new fan. This method should be useful in replacing the dual layer shower bubble as well. Not all of the shower sky lights are square but Amazon or a quick google should find square or rectangular covers that fit your particular need. Just make sure you measure from the roof and not the inside opening.

I’m replacing the shower bubble this time. I’ve got the double (clear and smoke) replacement bubble coming. Found it on Ebay. The inside dimension in the shower is 14 x 14. The bubble itself is 14.5 x 14.5 with a 1.5 inch flange extending outside measurements to 17.5 x 17.5 inches. I’ll update once I complete the fix.

Over the toilet, I made a modification 3 years ago using two large computer fans and ran a double-switch next to the door so now I have a closer to normal type setup that is really quiet. One switch on the double switch controls the fan and the other controls the upgraded (Lowes) light fixture. Bathroom looks and sounds classy now. Finished the skylight today. Please allow me to reference my blog where it’s written up so I don’t have to do it all over again here. Got some pretty good pics on the job.

Looked at your blog. Nice Job! I know how tough it can be to prep something on the roof.
