As a half joke, I was thinking about something to have the batteries do once a month to cycle them using an Arduino, but then I started to seriously think of things to scrub the energy to keep them healthy.
Maybe measuring the distance to the moon is too elaborate, but there must be something useful I can do with the stored energy on a cycle basis. We are 100% Full-Timers and our rig is connected to shore power most all of the time.
It only gets to use the batteries maybe once a month when we change locations, sometimes less.Posted: 5:06 PM – May 27, 2018Not sure if this applies here. The Progressive Dynamics PD9200 series has several different charging modes. Our batteries are 4 years old and have been plugged in 24/7 for the last 2 years with no ill effects.Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

A few times it didn’t charge the batteries at all so I had to use jumper cables to retract the Slides and Bigfoots.
I went with an Aims 1250W Inverter/35A Smart Charger and a separate switched 100Amp 12VDC power supply.
The batteries auto disconnect from the RV when on shore power, but remain connected to the charger/conditioner.
If the batteries are ever damaged, dead or stolen, I can switch the power supply to the Bigfoot & Slides to run them.
The Aims, (and most other Inverter/Chargers) does not output any VDC unless the batteries are present and outputting at least 10VDC. If you drain the batteries below 10VDC, you have no way to generate 12VDC power to charge them even when you have shore 120vac.
It’s an overkill setup, but I’m known to do things that way.
