- Version 1 of Bigfoot controller on a 2011 Carri. While hooking up today, I went to lower the front jacks to the proper height for hitching up. The truck was already backed up under the rig, and the pin was just short of the hitch head. I pressed the “front jacks” and “retract” buttons and the front started to lower. However, when I removed my fingers from the buttons, the rig continued to lower. I pressed the power button, to no avail. I pressed the front jacks button alone, to try and reverse the jacks, and no luck. By now, the pin was well below the hitch head and the rig was getting close to the truck bed rails. I pressed the power button again and held it down, and the jacks finally stopped. I was a few inches short of the rig coming down on to the truck side rails. This was a rather stressful, panic inducing episode.
I will be installing a cutoff switch on the power line to the Bigfoot controller. Should this happen again, I can easily kill the power to the controller. This was a scenario I had never imagined before, otherwise, I would have installed the switch a long time ago. I will also call Rick, at Bigfoot, and run it by him. This is a heads up for anyone with the Bigfoot system.
Posted: 3:57 PM – Aug 29, 2013Thats not good! Never herd that before. Keep us posted on what thay tell you. A kill switch might be a very good idea. My power wire is located in the front storage area and very easy to get to.
ChipPosted: 4:35 PM – Aug 29, 2013We had that issue, but though we had hit auto….Posted: 11:21 PM – Aug 29, 2013I hope you can contact Quadra after the holiday to make sure a fix is taken care of immediately. We have not had that happen with our BF’s and we’ve had them on for almost 4 years.
Please keep us posted as this could be a concern for all of us. Hugs, Diretiredfields wrote:Version 1 of Bigfoot controller on a 2011 Carri. Posted: 7:20 PM – Sep 02, 2013We had an issue with ours this weekend. We were at a site that had no shade at all. So we moved to another site. When we were sitting up, the rear jacks would not go down, also the front jacks stoped working . Called jim at big foot, got voicemail (the weekend) He called back right away. He walked me thru the fix, then explained that the oil was hot. He said that when its 95 or hotter that will happen. Was good!! customer service. Also our front jacks are making a “thump” noise, the wife said she felt a shake in the recliner when it did it. This “thump” woke us up 2 of the 4 nites we camped. Is anyone else getting this “thump”?
Posted: 1:31 PM – Sep 03, 2013I’ve been getting that thump on each one of our jacks since new.
Seems to only happen when the ambient temperature changes in the morning and the evening, and only then when it is hot during the day.I have checked and it doesn’t seem to affect the level of the trailer, but it’s annoying.

Posted: 2:21 PM – Sep 06, 2013I’ve heard someone say the thump can be due to over extended, but it’s the back one I
heard was the problem mostly, being short! I’ll look for where I read it, but it said per
Quadra that it was good ideal to put block under.
Since then I heard about lighting and it wasn’t good to put blocks under. So!I do also have problems with big foot not stopping and keep pushing power button off
till it stops. It will make a guy pucker up. I have never had mine go to docking level.
Maybe I should call them, I don’t have remote with it. Think last owner took it with him.Posted: 5:31 PM – Sep 06, 2013If your 2011 was built in 2010, it didn’t have the remote. At least mine didn’t, I upgraded.
I hope someone posts what Quadra think about the problem.
I don’t want to drop the trailer on my side rails.Sheff
Posted: 7:18 PM – Oct 03, 2013Mine has been acting up not wanting to level properly or raise to hitch.
It would finally do it after a few try’s. I called MFG and they said it was because of the back sensors.
They would send one for free with instructions. Sounds like they don’t us the rear sensors no more.
‘They said I would need to disconnect them!
When I get it in I will scan and take pictures of it all to post!
He said it was easy.. Well he don’t know me….. boooaaahhhhhaaa!!!!B.W.Gentry
