Break-away switch fuse?

I was raising my pin box today and accidentally pinched the wires running through the frame from the break-away brake switch.  I repaired the wires and the hydraulic brake would not turn on when the cord was pulled out.  This unit was operating properly prior to the wire damage.  I checked the switch operation and found that it was working properly.  I connected the wires running to the switch and nothing occurred.  The wires run into the pigtail wire harness that plugs into the truck.  Is there a fuse located some where in this circuit?  I checked the 12v fuse panel and all were intact?  What am I missing?

        Thanks for any assistance!

I have a 2014 LS with disc and a GM truck with integrated controller.  I not aware of a fuse for the break-away switch but I have had one go bad before.  Ironic timing if it is the breakaway switch.

Your year model GM truck should not require a “fooler” magnet in the wiring to the pump as my 2013 did.  However, if you do have one I’d remove it.  I had brake problems with my fiver and my 2013 GM truck and it turned out to the magnet.  2015 and new do not need it.

Sorry I can’t offer any other tips.  Good luck, Phil

            Fire,

I have a 2010 built in Sept 2009.  Last spring (2018) I tested my breakaway switch by pulling the pin- nothing happened.  Like Phil (jdpm), I have disc brakes and should have heard the hydraulic pump actuate.  Who knows how long that switch Was bad.  No fuse involved.

Thanks for the information,  I tested the break away switch just a day prior to the change in the pin box and it worked fine.  My truck does require a “fooler” I used a magnet for a period of time and then switched to the Dexter module to allow it to work.  I am really starting to consider the module went bad possibly when I pinched and grounded the wire to the break away switch.  I will keep you posted on the final discovery and repair.

Well….  Seems to be a self inflicted injury!!  When I opened up the wiring to the pigtail I found that the brake control wire had pulled apart.  This must have occurred when I repositioned my pin box to level the trailer out.  Appears that the pin box put pressure on the wiring and pulled some of the wiring apart inside the wrapped wires leading to the pigtail that plugs into the truck.  I thought this was interesting that the hydraulic brakes would not activate but the brake lights on the trailer did, but that is exactly what happened.  Thanks for your assistance!!  Now on to the next project along with the mistakes that go with it!!
