- Hello all, new the the forums – new to owning a 2010 Cameo 35SB3
We just returned for our 1st voyage with this new-to-us rig and only had one issue of note.
The Cameo has a full sized Samsung refrigerator connected to a Xantrex inverter.
Before we left I made sure that the inverter was on and the fridge was working. When we arrived at the RV Park, I heard a steady beeping sound coming from the inverter and noticed it was saying the batteries were at less than 10 VDC.
We checked the fridge and it was off, but came right back on when I plugged into shore power.I was expecting that the truck would be charging the Cameo’s batteries while under tow.
I did verify that there is 12VDC on Pin#4 of the 7-Pin connector on my 2500HD Silverado Duramax Truck.
Is there a Cameo wiring diagram I can refer to to trace down why the batteries are not getting any juice while towing?
Thanks for any input.
Tim and Kathy CarsonPosted: 5:45 AM – Jun 05, 2017Charging from the truck will only happen when you truck batteries require a charge. I would suggest a solar panel and or more batteries. Let’s see what others say.Posted: 4:11 PM – Jun 05, 2017“If” you have a standard 7 pin plug…….#4 at 10 o’clock looking at the trailer plug should be power to charge the trailer battery(s).
#1 at 5 o’clock looking at the trailer plug should be ground.
Both the male and female side can be tested with a volt meter between #4 & #1. The voltage should be close the the battery voltage in trailer and then in the truck.
Check fuses in the truck?
Reach inside the pin box to make sure the wires are O.K. On our Cameo the wires run up into the closet at the front.
Maybe a wire is hiding in the battery box that didn’t get connected at some point.
Without power to the battery(s) not only won’t you have a fridge but you also won’t have emergency battery for the brakes.
Posted: 8:11 PM – Jun 05, 2017In my small, outside compartment, where the Bigfoot control is located, there is a wire and an inline fuse. That is the wire to the rig battery and the truck connector. Check that fuse.Posted: 10:54 PM – Jun 05, 2017Thanks for the suggestions, I found the in-line fuse next to the Battery Disconnect switch, clearly labeled “Ext Battery Charge”.It is a 30AMP fuse and was blown.
I have no way of knowing if it was already blown before I got the rig, or if it happened on the trip.
I’ll put a new one in and see what happens on the next voyage. Thanks again!
