- my 2004 SLQ35 has a remote start switch in the monitor panel and is prewired for a generator in the forward storage …..my question is about the exhaust pipe and mounting. i have a Onan generator that i would like to install, this is an all weather model and without cutting into the insulation blanket underneath i don’t know what i will find for supporting bracesPosted: 7:43 PM – May 02, 2017The bottom of the generator compartment in ours is a steel pan.
Make sure to buy /make a Gen-turi. We had our generator running about 2′ outside (windows closed) the front storage compartment……it took 3 hours for the CO alarm to go off…….As I’m discovering there are all kind of places for air/exhaust to leak through into the trailer.
Best way to run a hot pipe through an insulated cavity is a pipe inside a pipe. The outside pipe can be a pipe nipple that is 2″ bigger than the exhaust pipe. Floor flanges can be screwed on both sides of the pipe nipple to hold it in place.
The area between the exhaust pipe and the pipe nipple can LIGHTLY packed with turning from a lathe or course steel wool.
Some times I’ve used 3 springs to keep the exhaust pipe centered.
