- Since 3M filter prices are so ridiculous, I wonder if the filter could be kept submersed in potable water in the house during winter and reinstalled? Mine will only be a few months old come winter, so just curious. I think they are $100.Posted: 3:59 PM – Apr 03, 2016I removed mine at the end of the season and connected back up in the spring. No need to submerge. If you want to add a safety factor, put it in a plastic bag. You are right about the price. After the B-3 went over $300 (I heard from at least 2 distributors that they were being discontinued), I went a different route and installed a household whole house filter. In addition, I added a drinking water filtration system at the kitchen sink. Much more economical.
