- We’ve not been using a water softener but have used the white vinegar treatment to clean deposits from the tanks and lines, works great. We also disinfect the lines with a bleach solution. I was wondering what would happen if we mixed the bleach and vinegar together and did them at the same time. Do we have any chemist in the crowed; is this safe?Posted: 8:18 AM – Oct 25, 2014I’m certainly no chemist and nor was it my favorite class in school! But with my interest in your question and this question I did a quick search and came up with this answer:

Based on this, I’d say no. PhillipPosted: 8:58 AM – Oct 25, 2014Sure glad you got back to me on this, wow mixing bleach and vinegar releases toxic chlorine gas.So much for being lazy and trying to do two things at the same time,
I think I will do it like I have been, one thing at a time and maybe I will wait a month or so between the two treatments.
