- The PEX clamp failed and started to drip. Is it just like fixing a sticks and bricks house sink leak?Posted: 7:46 AM – May 30, 2015If you have a pex compression tool and a few spare clamps, yes it is. It is best to not reuse a clamp site, cut it out and use a union, thus needing a short piece of pex, the union, and 3 compression clamps. If you can get the whole length of offending hose out to replace, you can get by with 2 clamps and a longer piece of new hose.
Sometimes, you can shorten the route and avoid a replacement piece of pex, but there should be no pull or bend pressure on the joint. If in doubt, don’t shorten.
Lowes has all the stuff you need.
Are you sure it is the pex fitting that is leaking, not a lose compression fitting above it?
