Converter/batteries

Posted: 1:17 PM – Oct 02, 2018I currently have an rv with two group 24 12v batteries connected in parallel. I am using a DLS-55/IQ4 converter. I am considering changing my batteries to two 6v golf cart batteries connected in series. Do the connections for the converter to batteries need to be changed from the current configuration? I was surprised to find my group 24 batteries bubbling quite actively while connected to the converter as it is a multi stage converter. I thought that it would only charge heavily up to a certain point then taper the charge down to preserve the batteries. The batteries are less than two years old and do not seem capable of holding a full charge. Is the converter overcharging? Is there a way I can test the converter to make sure it is functioning properly?Sorry this is so long, but I am concerned about my converter. I did notice that one of the 30a fuses was blown and replace both of them. What would cause a fuse to blow?

So for the 2 6 volt batteries you take a short heavy jumper from the positive on 1 battery to the negative on the other battery now you have 1 big 12 volt battery and now you can hookup the positive and negative form the camper like normal.Posted: 9:15 AM – Oct 04, 2018Thank you. The converter my unit has is the higher end 4 phase converter. IOTA makes several multi phase converters ranging from $162 – $195. Mine is the $195 model.B.W.Gentry
