If any of you live in a wet climate, what size dehumidifier do you use? I see 30 pint, 50 pint, 70 pint. I gather 50 pint is good for a 1,200 foot home. Anyone have experience / recommendations? Thanks, Joe

We use a 35-pint Hisense dehumidifier in our 36-foot Cameo and it does a good job removing moisture in damp climates. We move it from the living area to the bedroom/bathroom area from day to day to most effectively remove moisture when it’s really humid. We usually open the closet, wardrobe, and storage (washer/dryer) doors when it’s upstairs so our clothes don’t get musty.

        Joe,

I forget which size I have, but I did get a fairly large one six years ago. The larger the capacity the larger the tank before it needs emptying. Even then, the first day in a humid location it will fill the reservoir twice, stopping and turning itself off each time – even with both air conditioning units running. The ones with internal pumps promised no need to empty a reservoir, but were new to the market at that time. They seem to have proved to be without issues, just need a drain nearby. I have size that sits behind recliners when traveling. Compared to the heavy metal jobs of 20 years ago, the size did not make much weight difference.

Mine has 3 speeds, and once humidity is down a bit, I turn it back to the slowest speed. It has a digital humidity reading too. Set to “35, 45, 65” or any % and unit will automatically shut off at that humidity. It works in hot humid, making 80 degrees in Florida feel like Arizona, as well as during incredibly wet days you don’t want the a/c on.

The dehumidification process does add heat to the 5er, so there is a balance to pay on high versus a lower speed.

I should be over at the camper later this week and will report back on size.
