I purchased a Splendide 2100XC and just want to be absolutely certain about placement of the dryer vent. There is not much room to work with, maybe 5″ of clearance in the back (and none on the sides) and I have to put in a 90 degree elbow to vent it out the side of the 5th wheel. I have the water lines coming up very close to the back of the cabinet. My question is – do I need to go above the WD combo into the cabinet above to take it out the side? Does it go through the front nose of the RV (I can’t imaging that)? I’m worried I won’t have enough room to route the vent hose. Has anyone installed a vented unit in their Cameo? What’s the best solution? Thanks all!

A periscope type vent allows adjustment in height and is only 2.5 inches from wall without restricting air flow.

I don’t have a w/d in the 5er, but have used these in stick houses.

        Hopefully others will chime in.

Be sure to use a good solid vent cap.  You are going 60 mph before head wind or oncoming trucks!

Thanks for the response. The installation is pretty simple – the real question I have is – where is the best place to drill the 4″ hole and route the vent hose in this specific space (so I only have to do it once). I do have some options but was curious as to where/how other owners have done it, or where theirs is specifically located. Looking forward to the responses, thanks!

Get a good stud finder and a good $20  hole saw with pilot.  Pilot hole from the inside out between studs.  Studs are generally but not always 16-inches on center.  The wall space is 1.5 inches of insulation.  The pilot will generally start into outside wall about the time that big diameter is through the inside wall.  Score the inside of the outside wall with the big diameter, but do not keep drilling.  Go outside and drill back in.

Thanks for the response – I have all of that. My question is, where is the best place for the hole? Will there be enough space in the back of the combo unit and the back wall to come out of the unit, turn right, and go to the back corner of the side wall. I will probably have to move the location of the water bibs slightly to get the 4”’ hole drilled as close to the corner while missing any studs. Is that correct or is there a better place to drill the actual hole for the vent? Should it come out at the 21.5” height of the combo unit or should to go down lower, or does it matter? My only concern or fear is getting the hole in the right place. Thanks.

Got it done. Made a mock up, measured 50 times, drilled from both directions – ready to go!

Good morning, installation looks similar to mind. I initially used a soft dryer vent pipe over a decade ago because of the spacing like yours. Easier to install but the problem is time, gravity and traveling will cause the soft vent to sage and pinch and no matter what Splendid says on it’s site, their dryer pushes a lot of lint out the vent which will then clog the restricted soft vent pipe. If you take a little extra time and use the hard flex pipe, it will conform to the maximum space available when you push the combo in and stay there. It will tolerate a vent cleaning brush once a year. Just work the brush in and out from the outside during a dry cycle and keep out of the way of all of the loosen link that will fly out.
