There are several posts regarding the Iota ITS-50R transfer switch causing arcing and fires. I wanted to post a quick reminder that this could still be a problem with your coach. We have a 2010 Cameo 32FWS. Many other models have this same switch. We have owned this coach since new.

We suffered light smoke damage, insulation on wires were completely burned, and the Iota transfer switch is a total loss. This could be a problem whether you gave a generator or not.

It appears to me that the electrical connections become loose over time under the connection lugs, which results in arcing, then overheating, then melting plastic and ultimately a short circuit at 50 amps / 120 volts AC.

This switch according to the internet has been recalled, the company is out of business, and has caused numerous melt downs and fires to other units.

If you can’t afford to replace this unit in your rig, please take the time to check the connections for arcing and make sure they are tight. I think this may prevent most of the issues with this switch.

My small fire has also prompted me to check the connections in the main breaker panel as well.
