      Fancy Build Plate
      Postby Dano » 13 Jul 2014 22:26

Hi everyone. Wondering if anyone knows where the Fancy Build Plate was installed at the factory in our Cameo . To be clear Not the weight/gvw plate but am talking about the plate we found in our Owner Manual packets. Very shiny proudly displaying their build quality. Also wondering if any Cameo owners have directions on how to winterize the 36 FWS water systems as our original book has very little info. Not all manuals for appliances either.. You all are great and dw and I appreciate all your kindness. Thanks again ,DanO .

Can’t help you on the build plate but this is the list I use to winterize our Cameo
      • If you have 3M water filter remove and put in the plug.
      • Drain the fresh water holding tank.
      • Drain and flush the gray and black holding tanks.
      • Drain the water heater. Remove the drain plug and open the pressure relief valve. CAUTION (never drain the water heater when it is hot or under pressure)
      • Open all hot and cold faucets; don’t forget the toilet valve and outside shower.
      • Locate and open the low point drain lines. (ousr are in the main pass through storage area) There will be one for the hot and cold water lines. Using the water pump will help force water out, but turn it off as soon as the system is drained.
      • Close drains and all faucets.
      • By-pass the water heater. If you do not by-pass kit the water heater will fill up with antifreeze before it goes through the water lines, wasting six gallons of antifreeze. Ours are located by the hot water tank, I turn them the opposite way they are now, winterize and then turn them back.
      • Connect the clear tubing by the water pump and put the other end into a one gallon container of non-toxic RV antifreeze. Turn the valve to pull from the gallon of antifreeze. We use about two gallons, but I always buy three.
      • Turn the water pump on and pressurize the system. Starting with the closest faucet, slowly open the hot and then cold valves until antifreeze appears.
      • Repeat this process on all faucets from the closest to the farthest away. Don’t forget the outside shower, if equipped.
      • Flush the toilet until antifreeze appears.
      • Pour a cupful of antifreeze down each drain. Pour a couple of cups in the toilet and flush into the holding tank.
      • Turn your water heater electric heating element off. This will protect the element if the unit is plugged in while being stored.
      • Make sure all the faucets are closed.

Thank you Traveler for the winterize reply. Thought our High-End fifth wheel probably would be easy to winterize with a water heater bypass in it. Our Cameo is the Anniversary Year Edition, guessing that’s why the Fancy Build Plate…someone pried it off somewhere..?

      Dano,

They all had fancy build plates on the wall as you headed out the door of the 5er. Mine is on the right side of the door. Haven’t taken mine off because I’m not sure there is finished wood or a vacuum behind it.

Your welcome, only take us about half hour to winterize the water system. Some use an air compressor and blow the lines out. The advantage is far less time to de-winterize and clean all the anti-freeze out. Maybe because we live in Minnesota I’m concerned that we won’t get all the water out of the lines, but it’s an alterative way of doing it.

Dano, one quick winterizing tip I read. When you remove the anode rod from the water heater, store it right there behind the cover. You’ll know that it’s out, and you won’t forget what you did with it.

Good idea Papacliff. Had not thought of that. To be honest, have never replaced any either in all our class c rv’s we’ve had. Will look at it at winterizing time.
