- Our Fantastic Fan in our bathroom stopped working this morning. We have power to the dome but nothing to the fan itself. It’s either the fan motor or the switch, so it looks like another project.
Anyone run into this before?
Thanks
Posted: 10:34 AM – Oct 18, 2013Ours did that, it turned out to be the ground. A little wiggling from above will confirm. Easy to fix.Posted: 10:36 AM – Oct 18, 2013Also could be just dirt. Did you try to boost the fan blade to see if it would then function?Posted: 11:07 AM – Oct 18, 2013Tried cleaning it and wiggling the wires, must be something else. I sure do appreciate the quick responds. I’ve e-mailed the company to get their ideas.Years ago we stopped by their factory in Michigan. Not only did they come out and fix the problem they replaced the fan with an upgrade, great company. I understand they have been bought out by someone else.
Posted: 11:10 AM – Oct 18, 2013Did you check the small fuse near the rain sensor on/off switch? I forgot about that.Posted: 11:52 AM – Oct 18, 2013There is a little push switch on top that senses when the dome is closed. Sometimes it sticks and a shot of contact cleaner or WD will fix it. You will have to climb up on the roof to access and lube it.
ChipPosted: 11:54 AM – Oct 18, 2013Sometimes you can tap on the fan by the in out switch and unstick the dome switch while the dome is up..Chip
Posted: 12:09 PM – Oct 18, 2013You can also pull the switch and jump the wires to see if the switch is bad. Mine started sticking about a year ago and has been good since I lubed it.

Thanks for the help. I started with the easy job and pulled the switch off. I sprayed all the contacts with WD40 and that solved the problem. I’ve attached the wiring schematic for the model that is in the bathroom. The dome switch provides the ground to the fan’s motor and I think that was the problem.

Posted: 7:49 AM – Oct 19, 2013The model I have has a rain and temp sensor. It stopped working and I adjusted the sensor and it now works fine. Had something to do with the temp because fan is covered from outside and rain does not enter the picture.FS
