Fixed our fireplace today by replacing the heating/fan unit. Nice to have it back to take the chill off in the evening. :D

Congratulations! Nothing like feeling toasty by the fireplace.

        Traveler,
Thanks for the great info. We love the fireplace in the morning and evening to warm things up that extra bit. :D :D :D

We’re having the same problem–blower stops working after a few minutes. Did you order from Dimplex? What was the cost?

Have you ever taken the fireplace out and cleaned all the air intakes with compressed air? I notice from your signature you have a 2011. I take the fireplace out once a year and blow it out real good. Mine did the same thing but worked fine once I blew it out. You will be surprised at how much dust can get in there. Eventually mine went out and Dimplex sent me a new one free of charge. Here is their contact info.

Thanks for the info, Chip. We did blow out the top vents with an air compressor a couple of weeks ago. It worked for a while but then stopped. We’ll take it out tomorrow and try it again. It would be a great savings if Dimplex would send a free replacement.

There are vents on the rear of the heater that need to be blown out. Also use low pressure and blow out the slots for the thermostat on the front of the heater behind the bottom flap. You will want to do this outside. If you use yours as much as I do you will be surprised at how much dust is under and behind the heater in the cabinet.

We had to pay for ours, cost about $155 and bought if from Dimplex using the same info that Chip provided above. I didn’t take it outside but used our vac to clean the fireplace and the space its enclosed in.

I didn’t call customer service when I called Dimplex. I called technical support to pic their brain and the person offered to send a free heat strip and blower.

We can’t imagine life without our fireplace. A push of a button and it’s warm in no time. Another bonus is sometimes at nite, I turn off all the lights and sounds and just enjoy watching the “fire”. It’s relaxing & mesmerizing! We have ours on right now as there’s a bit of a chill here in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Hugs, Di

Thanks for the suggestion, Chip. We called tech support today and they are sending the new heater assembly for no charge. We are happy campers.

Glad it worked out for you. I noticed though that the new strip does not put out as much heat as the old one but still works fine especially for free. Maybe there was a problem with the first one getting too hot thus the free replacement. Either way, great customer support.

We had the same issue and Dutch lubed the motor and it has been working perfectly. He also takes it apart about every year and cleans and inspects. We also had to replace one glass bulb that we hadn’t realized had burned out. He also cleans the glass screen inside. God what a difference!  You don’t realize how much dust gets on the interior glass dulling the beautiful fire.
