We are in Mazatlán  Mexico and have encountered a small problem, a leak in the fresh water tank.  The roads on the way down were a little bumpy and during the travels I began to notice a small drip from the rear underside of the fifthwheel, a 2015 Lifestyle LS38RS.  I removed the fabric membrane and exposed the tank.  I found that one of the self tapping screws used to hold the fabric  in place had rubbed on the bottom side of the tank and created a small hole.  The tank likely shifted around due to the bumps and came into contact with the  screw tip.

I have installed an expansion plug into the tank, glued it, and placed Ether bond tape over over the entire area.  Leak has stopped hopefully long enough for us to finish the winter and return to the US for repairs.

Has anyone had luck with plastic welding?  Is there a source for a new tank, or any other options available for repairs/replacement that others have had success with?

Thanks in advance for any information!!

PS the weather here is fantastic, walking the beach daily and swimming in the ocean to cool off.  There are two Carriage fifthwheel in the park and will make sure they know about the forum.

Yes, soldering iron with pointed tip just take your time.  Total bond a piece of material over it and it will work.

            Hello Retiredfire

We purchased a LS38RS about 3 weeks ago.

Then my wife fell and broke her ankle so I am now house wife as well as everything else. It is 18 steps to get in the stick house so she is residing in the Lifestyle until they take the cast off about 4 more weeks.

I just had an unnerving experience. I had the water running in the kitchen sink.

A friend that I had contacted to see about moving some honey bees that had taken up resident in a piece of construction equipment I have parked about half a mile toward the back of the property.

I went with him to show him were the bees were.

I am sure you guessed it by now I left the water running. I am hooked to the house with a water hose.

When I entered the trailer I heard a loud bang and the trailer shook. Then a second one louder than the first and the trailer really shook that time.

I shut the faucet off and stated looking for what happened. I did pull the gray tank valve and dumped the contents on the ground. It was defiantly a very large quantity of water.

There is no evidence that the shower drain or the other sink drain had water in them. I would think the gray water system would back up into the shower pan if the tanks were full and you keep running the water.

Now that I have written an essay about my activities I will ask the question.

Where are the gray tanks and just where did you open the bottom of the trailer to get to them?

Thanks in advance for you help.

            Phil P
