Noticed today that there is a separation where the front cap overlaps the driver side of the 5th wheel (vertical)….just below the gutter spout. 2 screws no longer grab anything (stripped) and I need to replace those with something slightly bigger so that it will grab. As you can see in the photo there is about 1/4″ gap, at least, and I can’t even push it hard enough to close the gap. I’m hoping the larger screws will do the trick. My question is there something else I should do before installing the new screws? Should I fill the gap with some sort of adhesive? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

        .

I cannot help, but this response may help others that only look to “latest replies” to see your question.

That said, the photo does not help me “see” the problem.

        Hope that someone can help.

If you could send a couple more pics of the entire area it might help. Hard to tell with just one pic.

I replaced the scews around the cap with #10 x 1 1/4 counter sunk stainless steel. Color does not match the trim but they are holding. A bkack Sharpie marker will color them.

When installing the screws I used some clear Proflex RV caulking on each screw.

Wouldn’t hurt to use the #10s one up and one down from the screws that have come out.
