- This is a post from another forum about the Gen II Bigfoot system for your information:
update …. we are currently camping at the NC State Fairgrounds on our last outing prior to pulling out for a 3 month trip to South Dakota …. for the last few months our Bigfoot leveling system has been a bit inconsistent …. this trip after I pushed the auto level button it did its thing but when the screen showed the camper was level, it wasn’t …. I turned it off and then back on …. the screen and indicator lights both indicated the camper wasn’t level …. I then told it auto level and the message on the screen showed it was level …. it only took a minute to manually level the trailer …. today I called Bigfoot and talked to their fellow helps folks having problems …. have talked with him several times and have met him in person once …. told him about the problem and he said that when they upgraded their system to use a remote they added a second sensor …. they have found that the second sensor hasn’t worked out as well as they thought it would so they have completely redesigned the electronics and eliminated the second sensor …. they are expecting a shipment of the new components to arrive any day and he will send us a complete replacement …. he also authorized me to have a person come and install it …. that’s what I consider to be exceptional service and support after the sale
For those with the new system it might be worth a phone call.
Posted: 8:55 AM – May 18, 2013Awesome! It’s great that they have admitted to the issue and are correcting it. I’m still sold on my Big Foot! Like anything mechanical, it can be a little quirky at times but now that I know a little about it, I’m usually very satisfied with its function.
I’m glad we did not upgrade our “standard” system shortly after we purchased our Cameo in 2011. Maybe in the future we will now that Quadra has perfected it.
I’m getting ready to insall some rubber mud flaps to help keep some of the rain, sand, and road debris off the rear jacks in an effort to cut down on potential issue with the switches. PhillipHi Phillip – we installed mudflaps a year or so ago. We sealed the black painted wood and bought full lenght truck mudflaps and they work well to reduce but not eliminate dirt in the Bigfoot jack area.

Thanks Rick. I have sent you 2 messages but they are showing in “OUT box” and not sent yet. I sent you one requesting your personal email so I can email you pix. Phillip
Posted: 3:12 PM – May 19, 2013Thanks for the information. I have been having similar issues. Last week, it kept giving me an alarm saying I was too far our of level (I wasn’t) Then it tried to auto level and raised the left front almost all the way and left the front right hanging in the air. I quickly put it in manual mode and got it close. Turned off the system and turned it back on. Autoleveled and it worked perfectly. I think that I will call on Monday.Posted: 9:18 PM – May 19, 2013Boy, I’m glad to see someone besides me and my buddy is having trouble with the upgraded Bigfoot. Both he and I have had very, very inconsistent leveling since installing the upgrade. About 2/3 of the time, the system either won’t level, or says it’s level when it’s clearly not. Time for a phone call I guess. While I’m on the subject, anyone else find that the “autoconnect” feature really doesn’t work all that well? For the two systems I’m aware of, using the autoconnect leaves the pin about 4-5′ too high once it’s done. Anybody else with that problem?

Rick, How far below the Big Foot pad do your mub flaps extend? Do they go all the waty to the ground? Thanks, Phillip
Posted: 2:39 PM – May 21, 2013I also put mud flaps on to help protect the rear Big Foot jacks. I kept them about 3” from the ground, I didn’t want to get them to low so when we backed up on a hill that I might run over them. As said they help, but we still get some road grim, but I think the real protection is in case the tires would kick up something solid it would help protect the system. I still keep them clean and use a Teflon spray on the cylinders, it seem to last longer than using silicone.Posted: 4:37 AM – May 24, 2013I am also having some problems with big foot. Most of the time it works excellent, but once in a while it does crazy things while trying to auto level and I have to shut it off and start over.Posted: 4:55 PM – May 24, 2013Same here. I have e-mailed them the other day after reading your post…they have not replied to it yet though.
KevinPosted: 4:39 AM – May 25, 2013I read over on the NuWa forum that a lot of them were having similar problems and the front sensor seemed to be the problem.
DonPosted: 9:02 AM – May 25, 2013I spoke with Customer Service at Quadra and they are redesigning the operating system and eliminating the rear sensor that is used on the second generation Big Foot system. They expect to sort all this out in the next few weeks.Posted: 12:15 PM – May 25, 2013myvann wrote:This is a post from another forum about the Gen II Bigfoot system for your information: …. they have found that the second sensor hasn’t worked out as well as they thought it would so they have completely redesigned the electronics and eliminated the second sensor ….Wow. Thanks for that.
I’m an inveterate sucker for gadgets, and that Bigfoot “upgrade” really looked fun. Had not pursued it yet due long-term chronic distractions from brake issues which took precedence. Glad I waited – I wasn’t really looking forward to crawling around down there to get that 2nd sensor hooked up. What a relief to know I won’t have to.
Posted: 3:26 PM – May 28, 2013My auto level messed up again this weekend, I just got of the phone with tech at Big Foot and he told me the same thing a Jpcovert1 said that they are redesigning a censer and would ship me one when they get them ready, and yes they are going back to only one censerPosted: 4:54 PM – May 30, 2013Been having leveling issues lately, long after putting in the Gen2 system. Called Bigfoot, talked with Rick, and he told me the same thing he’s been telling you guys. The rear sensor just isn’t cutting it. So, I’m on the list.Without this forum, I would have fiddled with this issue for much longer than I did. Thanks guys.
Posted: 4:10 PM – Jun 04, 2013I called Bigfoot today because I have had the same issue on my 32fs. According to them this is a problem ONLY on rigs with solid well built frames like the Carriages. Lippert frames that flex do not have the issue. Because our frames do not flex the rear sensor get’s confused. I suspect the Redwood and the new Carriage by Redwood won’t have this problem.
It is an easy fix. Really don’t need anyone to fix it for me. He is sending me a new controller which swaps out. It is located in the front compartment. I looked and is very easy to get to. An easy plug and play. The rear sensor is unplugged from the old sensor and is not re-plugged into the new one. He said either just leave the old sensor on and forget about it, or if I want to climb under neath the coach I can pull it and just through it away.Like always Quadra is awesome!!!

Posted: 12:15 AM – Jun 05, 2013Just passing this on. I am being told by Quadra Big Foot that the ‘fix” should be available in about 2 months. It has to do with the 2nd sensor. I will post more, when I receive info. Hugs, DiHappycamper wrote:I am also having some problems with big foot. Redwood uses the lippert 6 point system. lots of leaks and many many complaint with the popping noise from the hydraulic system. you can hear the popping, a good 100 feet or so away from them.

Posted: 8:22 PM – Jun 11, 2013UPs dropped off the new controller this afternoon. Decided not to leave the rear sensor mounted. System is back to normal now.B.W.Gentry
