- CLOC-AdminI’m in the process of de-winterizing our trailer and need some help. For the hot water heater in the past I’ve always turn the valves to the opposite way, added
anti-freeze and than turn them back to where they were. Now I’m not sure I did that the last time. I’ve turned them in the position showed in the photo and I can hear water flowing into it, but before I turn on the power I wanted to see if they are in the right position?

Posted: 12:32 PM – Nov 21, 2014For some reason the photo is upside down.Posted: 1:20 PM – Nov 21, 2014Traveler,Of course no guarantees, but I’ve never seen a valve that didn’t orient such that when the longest part of the handle is in line with the pipe it’s “open” and when the long part is perpendicular to the pipe, the valve is closed.

I would think that the top and bottom should be open and the one in the middle shut, but I’m not sure.
