- I have a musty smell in basement. It seldom gets into the living area, DW says it does.
Was wondering if any one had this? Not really a sewer smell, but was wondering if this
could be the cause. Maybe a hole in gray h20 but don’t smell like that. I have been in
basement and took walls down towards furnace and bathroom. Maybe should look
towards fresh water, don’t keep much water in there. I figure maybe I can get into
zipper areas and look under kitchen are to see if a leak.
Not a rotten egg smell like a battery.
Where baffled(actually humans) by this!Posted: 4:22 PM – Nov 06, 2013Don,
I thought Phillip went around and around on this a few weeks ago, but i can’t find it with “search” function. After i have read your post, in order to find “smell” i must search specifically in waste water systems, or whatever category Phillip was using. Sire wish we could search all categories at once even if it takes a while longer and comrs back with too many posts…
Maybe Phillip will chime on but i think water was getting into his under floor insulation.
Posted: 4:31 PM – Nov 06, 2013I had no odor or smell in the basement…..mine was coming in thorough the louvered furnace vent. I had absolutely no leak. My situation turned out to be water soaked insulation in the holding tank cover. The seam of the holding tank cover was not sealed completely allowing road spray to get onto the holding tank cover insulation. It has since dried and I sealed the area and the odor is gone. I hope this help. My post was here:

I was able to find Phillip’s posts using either odor or smell.
Posted: 6:57 AM – Nov 07, 2013I did do use the search function and all I picked up was a thread I wrote a (about my toilet) musty smell, nothing else. I went to the main page and did search, 95% of the time
I do a search before I ask in a topic.. So please tell me if you can when I do my search’s why I don’t find what others do. So I won’t start another topic.I guess I missed the topic from Phillip.
Thanks for your help from every one.Posted: 7:45 AM – Nov 07, 2013Tumble Weed wrote:I did do use the search function and all I picked up was a thread I wrote a (about my toilet) musty smell, nothing else.Tumble Weed,
Refine your Search by using the instructions:
Search for keywords:
Place + in front of a word which must be found and – in front of a word which must not be found. Put a list of words separated by “|”(this is a Vertical Bar – It is located over the backslash character on U.S. keyboards using the “Shift” key) into brackets if only one of the words must be found. Use * as a wildcard for partial matches.Search for author:
Use * as a wildcard for partial matches. Then either click the “Search for all terms or use query as entered” button or the “Search for any terms” button and see which one brings up the most results.
EXAMPLE: +musty +smell
Then in the “Search Options” Section, in the window next to “Search in forums:”, scroll to “Come On In! Grab a Chair, and Lets Talk About It” forums category and select/highlight it, then click “Search”B.W.
Posted: 10:54 AM – Nov 07, 2013Once the odor problem has been found, try using deodorizing cat litter to absorb and remove it from the rig. I have used it in a refrigerator also where other stuff did not work.Posted: 2:18 PM – Nov 07, 2013BWowner wrote:

Well I did as you said BW and found what I found when I did the search the first time, but still did not see what Phillips posted.
So I guess it’s me, I got where I try not to post any way. SO many other forum people ask why didn’t you search, did you google it or yahoo it.
I don’t know does it cost for me to post in these forums, I have read some thing about trying to rack up post in this forum? And as far as I’M concern the score board for how many I posted don’t need to be there. I promise IM not trying to over post and rack up the score! I do come to forums as a social media in away get to know people kidding and the knowledge. So IM thinking maybe that’s not good thing either. Maybe I”M thinking forums are something that they aren’t!Posted: 5:40 PM – Nov 07, 2013Tumble Weed,
Did you see the “Link” to Phillips post in his reply to you above? http://www.carriage-lifestyle-owners.co … 766&hilit=You go ahead and post as many times as you feel necessary. That’s what this Forum is for, others helping others. Don’t worry about the numbers. You need help, ask for it.B.W.

I have the same issue as Tumbleweed. If I search for “smell” in “Come On In! Grab a Chair, and Lets Talk About It” i get no hits returned.
As mentioned earlier, if i am lucky enough to remember that it was posted in “waste water systems”, then, and only then do i get a hit returned.

OK, I put “+smell” without the quotations into the Search in the “Come On In! Grab a Chair, and Lets Talk About It” and I got 4 pages of results. Are you guys putting the “+” in front of each search word like it instructs too?? You have to use the plus sign. Try that and see what happens.
