- The 1′-1/2″ drain pipe located near the kitchen sink had a crack into the treaded connector.
It started when I turn on the kitchen facet, I noticed that the furnace was kicking in…no way !!! I was septical at the begining but convinced after the trird time so I went outside to have a look…. There was water dripping from the furnace door and soon all the way to the front on the bottow of side wall and below in the holding tank area.
To see that drain pipe: look behind the garbage can to the right.
I called a service technician and replaced tha pipe section ( about $10) and took an hour an halft to replace it and to check the extend of damage. The water damade seem to be limited to the holding tanks insulation.
I’m not sure if the previous owner had the same trouble but there was a trap about 2 x 2 feets that we opened and watch the water comming out. I left that trap open and put some spacers bettewen the bottom of the tanks cover and the mineral wool to dry. After 3 day the wool is still a little wet.Not fun at all but at least it not a major case of rebuilding evreything. I don’t think that the conector broke due to frost but rather of the design.
see picture……what do you think
Note: I pull away the pipe to show witch part it involved.Image no longer available. Deleted by ImageShack
Posted: 12:25 PM – Apr 29, 2013This is why this forum is so great. I have the same model and have noticed that that the white flex pipe is behind the trash, but never looked at is as a possible failure point. On my “need to check” list. Thanks!Posted: 8:28 PM – Apr 29, 2013We do not have the same model; however it is worthwhile to check the area anyway.Nate
