Inverter Charger Not Working
https://carriage-lifestyle-owners.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=3989
Posted: 11:56 AM – Sep 24, 2018I recently posted that I had some blown fuses. Well I can’t find where the short is but I did discover that the Inverter/charger (Kisae) is also not working. It is showing an error code that won’t clear and it is not charging the batteries. One other problem that I have is the residential refrigerator is not working. I started making some checks and found several outlets are also not working (I am plugged into shore power). The thing that I don’t understand is why there isn’t any AC power to the refrigerator. I would think that even if the inverter is somehow fried that AC power (shore power) would be routed to the residential refrigerator. Or do I now understand how this is suppose to work???
This is how I thought the electrical system should work : If plugged into shore power the inverter would only be charging the batteries and all outlets would get power from shore power. If you are not on shore power then the inverter would use the battery voltage to create AC power and power up the refrigerator and a couple of additional outlets in case you were boon docking. If my assumptions are correct then why isn’t the refrigerator getting any power?
If my assumptions are not correct could someone please weigh in and help me to understand?

Posted: 12:50 PM – Sep 24, 2018I had the same trouble last year. On shore power you still have some outlets that work, correct. I had to run an extension cord from the other side of the camper to keep the refrigerator going. I ended up replacing the invertor-charger. I have not had a problem since.
The code I had would not clear until I disconnected the batteries and re connected. Had a RV repair place tell me it was a battery problem. Tested the batteries and they were fine and am still using them. When I unhooked the batteries and hooked them back up the inverter would work for a while and then quit again.
Hope this helps!
AlanPosted: 7:46 AM – Sep 26, 2018Alan, thanks for your input. I was wanting try the same thing that you did, but my residential refrigerator is built into a cabinet in the kitchen slide out and I can’t get at the power cord without removing the refrigerator from that cabinet. Not sure why they build things to be so difficult. This was still bugging me how the system worked so I removed the AC ‘out’ wire from my inverter thinking that it had to be the power source for my refrigerator. I plugged it into an extension cord and fridge powered up. Well now I know how my setup works. When I have a properly working inverter and am plugged into shore power my inverter powers up. It will then allow incoming AC power ‘in’ to AC power ‘out’ and energize the circuit that powers my refrigerator as well as charging the batteries. When I unplug from shore power the inverter stays on and gets power from the batteries. It takes this battery12v power and converters to AC power for my refrigerator circuit.
So now I only need to figure out why I have two dead shorts on my 12v lighting system. I don’t think it could be caused by the inverter going bad, but who knows.

Posted: 8:18 AM – Sep 26, 2018Like I said before, I plugged the fridge into and extinction cord to the other side (under table) of the camper to make it work. The plug in for the fridge is behind the drawers in the slide on my 36FW. I had to take the drawers out to get to it. Without being hooked up to shore power do the inside lights come on just with the batteries?
If the fridge comes on when you plug the AC out wires from the inverter, then that tells me that the inverter is not working correct. You said you have a dead short somewhere but I had the big fuse blow also when I had this problem.Posted: 8:21 AM – Sep 26, 2018Are the outlets that wont work in the slide? The inverter powers them up also.Posted: 10:20 AM – Sep 26, 2018Yes there is an outlet above the cook stove and the outlets for the TV are out which I believe are on the same circuit.I didn’t think the outlet would be behind the cabinet drawers, but I plan to look. Thanks.
