- My husband installed these “Smart Tiles” in the kitchen last weekend. We love them and everyone who sees them thinks they look great. Really easy and a great update to our kitchen. They can be ordered online from Home Depot.Posted: 9:22 PM – Feb 19, 2014That turned out beautifully!
If your hubby doesn’t hire out, is he available for consulting?
Nice job!
Posted: 6:48 AM – Feb 20, 2014Verrrry nice!Posted: 7:33 AM – Feb 20, 2014Awesome!!! Anyone that doesn’t like that, bares watching.Great Job
Posted: 8:17 AM – Feb 20, 2014Love it, We have the same kitchen and would like to do the same thing or similar. Did you remove the microwave or just butt up to the bottom?
also was it any problem having enough room to extend the outlets past the backsplash?Awesome job,
CaryPosted: 10:04 AM – Feb 20, 2014He just butted up under the microwave. Two of the outlet covers can’t be removed, but the wires are long enough to pull them out and cut around them. Both walls took a total of about 4 hours to do. Let me know if you have any other questions.Posted: 9:35 PM – Feb 20, 2014Really beautiful!!! Can you tell us more about the “smart tiles”? I’m assuming you need to grout?? Hugs, DiPosted: 11:17 PM – Feb 20, 2014No grout at all. These are peel and stick. Here is the description from the Home Depot website: “A revolutionary and unique in the world product that is as easy to install as peel and stick. The do it yourself peel and stick tile concept of smart tiles is made of an adhesive substrate topped with a clear gel component called Gel-0 (which gives it its 3-dimensional effect) that makes the product so easy to handle, cut and maintain you will wonder why this was not invented before. They are installed in minutes without any mess or specialized tools over any clean and sleek surface for you to enjoy right there and then. Especially designed for Kitchen and Bathroom environments (i.e.. backsplashes), they are resistant to the heat of stovetops and the humidity of bathrooms. They are removable by simply heating the surface with a hairdryer and peeling them off. Choose from our wide selection of Mosaics, solid colors and Motifs.”They come in many different patterns and colors. They aren’t cheap. They cost $10/sheet or $53 for six sheets and each sheet is approximately 10″ x 10″. Our kitchen cost about $230 including tax.

Posted: 7:44 PM – Feb 24, 2014Very nice job and looks great!Posted: 7:13 AM – Feb 26, 2014Posted: 8:49 AM – Feb 26, 2014We used a similar product about a year ago. It really brightened up the area.
ChipPosted: 7:12 PM – Jan 08, 2015Fabulous job. Thanks for sharing.Posted: 8:32 PM – Jan 08, 2015Looks great!!! Dutch can tackle so many jobs in our “home” but I just can’t get him to try this on. Unfortunately, we have so many outlets, sockets, etc the he just doesn’t feel he can work around all of those little parts that would interfere with him trying to get it right.
Maybe I can sweet talk someone into it at a future get together???????? Please—pretty please?? Hugs, DiPosted: 11:12 AM – Jan 09, 2015Love love it! What is the color of your tiles?
JoAnnPosted: 9:34 PM – Jan 09, 2015If you’re asking about the photos I posted last February, the color is “Bellagio.” Since that first posting, my husband has also used the vinyl tile in the bathroom. It still looks as good as the day it was installed.Posted: 9:42 AM – Jan 10, 2015Thanks so much for the info on the color, we absolutely love it and it looks so professional. Thinking that color would look good in our kitchen. we will be heading to Home Depot very soon.JoAnn
Posted: 9:13 PM – Jan 10, 2015Some Home Depots have it in stock, but we had to order it on-line from them.B.W.Gentry
