Posted: 5:43 PM – Aug 20, 2017Has anyone installed one of these on their A/C. supposedly you can run your 15000 btu AC with a Honda 2000 inverter generator, or run both A/C’s on a 30 amp circuit! they are kind of pricey at $300 apiece, but if they work as advertised would be nice to have. I boondock 3 or 4 times a year in the warm weather, and use 2 Honda’s in parallel to run one A/C!Thanks!
RodPosted: 11:18 PM – Aug 20, 2017I use to install soft start on large conveyor systems…Some one is making them for smalle AC Make sure you check out the correct the wiring in the trailer to make sure you are protected from any faulty wiringPosted: 6:29 PM – Aug 21, 2017Does starting the A/C fan first then turning the compressor on kind of do the same thing? If i’m careful I can run both A/C’s on 30A by doing that – with nothing else running.
But I don’t think it is a good idea and do not do this often, but have done it before.
For some reason both of my A/C’s are on one of the 30A breakers of the Genset (there are two 30A breakers), not sure why it was wired this way. I fear it is too hard on the Genset to power both A/C’s on one 30A breaker, and it does occasionally pop, so I try to avoid this. But if temperatures are too high, sometimes willing to give it a shot when off gridding it. My Genset is 6.5kw.
Anyone have advice? If the 30A breaker is holding does that mean I am good? Can you overload a Genset even though the breaker is not popping? Is this foolish to attempt? Thx
