Good evening, I am attempting to remove my sharp microwave and convec. oven and like a couple other items on this RV they are not installed per manufactures instructions.  There are no screws into the top cabinet as one would normal. There is no visible place that it is screwed in place. Does anyone have any ideas! Thanks

I don’t know what year 5er you have, but my 2010 has 2 long bolts going down from the cabinet above the microwave.  Because the mfg drilled the holes too large, or failed to put large washers on the standard microwave bolts, the bolt heads sunk through the top thin layer of the cabinet above and the cabinet shelf surface was almost smooth to the touch.  But on a step stool with a good flashlight, I could se where they were.  I had to cig around the wood with a knife in order to get a socket on the bolts.  I removed one at a time and put very large washers around the bolts before re-installing each, one at a time.  Shortly after this, my wife commented that things did not slide in and out of that cabinet as easily as they had.

Many but not all cabinets have 1/2 inch or thicker veneered-particle board or solid wood for the lower shelf.  My guess is that oem saved weight with double thin panels on all cabinets, but forgot to reinforce the one above the microwave.

Using a crowbar may not be the recommended tool for removal of a microwave but on this Royals International I feel like it might be something to keep on hand. First my TV bracket was one like I have never seen almost impossible to operate now the microwave bracket is unlike any on the forums or YouTube. Instead of using the bolt though the top method like everyone else Carriage used a bracket that used 2 -18″ long screws that went from the bottom front to the top back going through the side compartment of the microwave. I saw the screws from the bottom of the microwave but since no where had I seen this as a mounting option I did not remove them.  If you are concerned with this mounting arrange don’t be, I con assure you the microwave will not come off the wall under any normal circumstances. Simple turn the 2 screws on the bottom of the microwave about 10 times and the front will release and remove as normal.(no crowbar needed). I sure hope this helps the next person in need of replacing an aging microwave with this bracket setup.

I got this photo as a bit of visual ad.  There were two long rods on each side of the microwave. The rod ran through the edges of the microwave and screwed into the plate at the rear.  With this setup there were no screws through the cabinet above. This was a system that required special brackets that where attached to the bottom of the microwave. It was a microwave specific solution.  If you find you have this system just turn the screws at the bottom of the microwave about 8 turns and it will release and pivot down for removal.
