- I have been noticing a bit of frost buildup where there seems to be a bit of an air leak on the top side of the freezer door.
Has anyone else had the problem and is there an adjustment that I am not seeing??? I see no way to adjust the plumb of the door so that the gasket fits right. The gasket looks pretty much brand new……Thanks. Celt
Posted: 5:57 PM – Apr 05, 2014You can check the seal by using the dollar bill test. Close a dollar bill in the door and see how easily you can pull it out. It should be tight. If it pulls out easily the the seal is not tight enough. I don’t think you can buy just the seal for the Norcold. You have to buy a new door. I have seen on other forums where people have used a hair dryer to heat up the seal and fix it but I don’t know if it works or not.I’m going to throw a few things out there.
Is there any adjustment on the hinge?
Maybe the hinge is getting worn out?
Possibly the door latch can be modified to hold the door closed tighter?
I sold my Norcold 3 years ago and put in a residential fridge. Love it!
Good luck.

Posted: 8:34 AM – Apr 06, 2014Spent some time with it yesterday. It also had not felt right quite right closing. I found a tsb from norcold that seems to indicate that the top door seal may have some issues and it looks like they build it out with some silicone..a solution I guess.
Anyway, I was able to seemingly get it back to normal. Nothing wrong with hinges and no adjustments possible. I think that the gasket had pulled away from its internal “frame” a little bit and was overlapping a bit on itself at the top…can’t describe it any better.
I think that if this happens again I will wait until not using it and consider removing and reattaching the gasket with outdoor quality double sided tape (the clear rubbery stuff) to build it out a bit without the use of goo. The whole thing is presently attached with some type of adhesive and that seems to have failed a bit at the top center. Thanks for the input! Celt

Service Tech called Norcold, seems there is a TSB for a repair which adds a 1/16″ washer under the door at the door pivot. Fixed the leak. Don’t know whether the two door fridge is the same or not.Sheff
Posted: 8:35 AM – Apr 07, 2014Good to know…that does seem to be the only way to raise the door. I think I may do both that if my gasket leak reappears.Posted: 11:57 AM – Apr 07, 2014sheff69 wrote:My Norcold four door fridge did the same thing on the LHS freezer door.
