I’ve never ridden or allowed any of my family or friends to ride in the back of our trailer while bouncing down the road. When I think of trying it I think of the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnez movie “The Long, Long Trailer”? Really funny but also a good demo of an earthquakes on wheels going down the road. On the other hand I might learn something. In some states I know it’s not allowed, but have any of you tried it—learn anything?

Never tried it. I don’t have any documentation, but I’ve heard some States permit it as long as there is a means of communication from the trailer to the tow vehicle. I would be concerned of exhaust fumes or carbon monoxide poisoning. Might be okay with roof vents opened for ventilation.

As much as dishes, etc….get tossed around, I’ve always thought it would be terrifying. I’ve heard people leaving their cats in the trailer and have always thought our cat would go crazy back there! I’m sure she would crawl down below via slideout access too…. :-)

I would not allow my family to ride in the trailer but the dog on the other hand rides in our fifth wheel when we travel. I have an ext cab truck and wife my wife and two kids it does not leave a lot of room for our 100 lbs giant schnauzer. so I have a folding dog crate with a 3″ thick foam pad covered in vinyl that she rides in. I know she does not like riding in the trailer but it beats staying home. hope this helped.

I will not even let the dogs ride in a moving 5er.

I just received an early birthday present – a GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition camera. These things are really something with the image quality and versatility they have. On my list of things to do with in regard to the LS, one is to mount it in the back and front of the trailer to see just how much it “shakes, rattle, and rolls”! I will post the vids here when I do so.
As far as riding in the LS I’m going to pass on that! Phillip

I have no idea where a person would ride in my 34sb3. You cant get to the chairs and couch when the slides are in and unless you are really small you won’t be able to get to the bedroom. It only leaves a little floor space in the kitchen open and that is filled with the DW’s hanging flower pots.

I did have some people ride in my old 5er, but only because of necessity. The report was that it was hot, noisy and rough, and when I had one short stop at a traffic backup they were all hanging on. Not gonna do it again.

We once had a large parrot and had a large cage. Needless to say the cage would not fit in the truck so, we had no choice but to let Casper ride in the 5th wheel. One day I had to swerve to avoid an accident and the trailer was just rock and rolling back there. We stopped as soon as we could and checked on Casper and the poor bird was clinging on the side of his cage for his life. His food and water was all over and so were feathers. We let Casper out and he hung climbed on my shoulders and did not want to let go. I never heard that bird jabber so much. Needless to say we made arrangements for him to ride in the truck. Never make anything ride in the back.

In hindsight it was pretty funny, he just walk back and forth in his cage, Jabbering as if to say “where the heck did you get your license” What did I get myself into?” etc. Poor thing. He would get quiet then if you said something to him he would start all over again, we just ignored him for about 48 hrs.
