Like Alan and DoAnn, Kathleen and I are moving on, but not out – thank you very much to a fellow forum member.
Short story – we bought a 2013 Lifestyle LS36FWS from a forum member, and plan to sell our 2010 Cameo 36FWS.
We have loved traveling throughout the country with our 2010 Cameo FWS. A few glitches and fixes along the way, but a wonderful vehicle well worth the multitude of projects that provide quality living enhancements over the years, and of course I enjoyed providing on this forum my 2 cents worth of advice on how to fix or do things. None of that would have been possible without BW’s dedication and time commitment.
Returning from New Hampshire to Florida in fall 2021, yes a little over a year ago, Kathleen and I asked ourselves whether we would continue to travel like this for 6-10 more years, God willing, or if are we tired of it and will give it up in 2 or 3 years? It was unanimous- 6-10. So, in my wisdom, I suggested that we sell our very comfortable out of warranty ford tow vehicle truck and order a new one. What a bad idea in retrospect. We ordered a new truck September 23, 2021 and have been truck-less ever since. Just found out that the ordered truck will not be built, and it will be at least June before it is built, September before it is here unless we substantially lower our ride standards and commit to a truck that lacks expensive safety features common on cars for almost 5 years – probably will do so, but it still means no truck here until June at the earliest. BUT, I digress.
We made our first long hotel trip in over 30 years this past summer. Wow, are pet friendly hotels expensive, as is home-quality food on the road in hotels. While in Maine, only half way through or seasonal travels, I came across a forum listing of a Lifestyle for sale that was based 8 miles from a New Hampshire campground we frequented. We liked what we saw, and knowing we had no truck, and even then knew the likelihood of having one in 2023 was looking grim, we agreed to purchase it and the owner agreed to move it to the NH campground site as part of the deal – after he enjoyed one more camping trip to his favorite spot.
It is now winterized and waiting for spring, as are we. We aren’t planning on a trip out west until 2024.
Back home, I am busy painting the stick house and keeping an eye on our 2010 FWS. Plan on taking a few photos and putting it on the market, but I don’t get chores done as fast as I used to.
The Cameo is very comfortable and a great traveling or staying put home on wheels. Very bright interior remodel and lots of quality of conveniences rarely found. Looking forward to doing something similar for the Lifestyle.
So BW, I will still be around and will renew my membership when mine expires.
Safe travels everyone.
