        • I recently replaced the plug end on my 50amp cord, then one leg came out and fried my microwave and the washer. Microwave was a replacement but the washer I will fix.  Does anyone know what usually blows when too much power is applied? The control panel is what come to mind, my power on/off switch doesn’t show any power but the plug is live.  Any thoughts?

If one leg is disconnected power to one side of the panel is lost but it shouldn’t cause things to burn out.

I’m wondering if there is something else?

Where is the control panel that you reffer to?

We are camping close to Kaslo BC with spotty data for the next 6 days. A reply may not be timley.

        Jere,
Just to clarify.  When the wire in the cord pulled free, I suspects sparks flew someplace, and depending on what wire pulled out and what other bare wire it touched would determine how big of a spark and how much damage.  The point of the above is that Alloy might be under the impression that either your cord has not been repaired or the RV Park power no longer is providing power to both 50 amp legs (It may have blown apart a connection on one leg that you cannot see..

Please confirm that you have properly repaired your cord.

To confirm RV Park is delivering power to both legs, use your 30amp to 50 amp adapter and plug into 30 amp power at the RV Park (but turn off your air conditioner(s) first!) Of course if both a/c units work, the RV Park is certainly delivering power to both legs and your cord is fine. I suspect that is your situation.

Unfortunately I cannot help with the electrical or electronic aspects of the Splendid.  That said, there might be an internal fuse that protects the low voltage electronics from power surges. If it has one, it might have saved you. Replacing that fuse, if it has one, may or may not solve the problem.  The fuse may be easily seen and replaced or could be soldered in line on or just before the controller most likely.

Good luck. If you search Splendid, several members have written about replacing Splendid electronics, but I forget the details.

I believe the center lug pulled out, the ground, leaving the two power legs hot, when the surge protector came on we were inside and immediately smelt burning wiring, the microwave was what we were smelling.  It would not come on and because of its age and features I decided to get a new model.  The washer was of f but we didn’t try to use it till we were in Acadia.  Pressing the power button and nothing happened, I’ve removed the dryer(it works) and am ready to tackle the washer.  The control panel is behind the power panel.  Typically electronic panels bur out first but I am looking for a fuse or circuit breaker on the washer.
