Hi! I bought a plug in type surge protector for my Carri-Lite and realized it would not work since I have a marine power cord with that different type of plug. So I am guessing the only surge protector that would work would be a hard wired one. Any recommendations for a good hard wired type/brand?

        Thank you!

In the last two Cameo’s I have had Progressives 50 amp hardwared systems. They have two units that are hardwared. One with the meter built into the unit and the other you can place the meter anywhere you want with the supplied cord. I had both types and would go for the one that you can place the meter anywhere. Both work great and are the same except for the place of the meter.

I am also curious why Carriage would use this special Marine power plug that does not fit into standard 50 amp surge protectors. It is probably a stupid question but I am new to RVng.

You place most of the 50A surge protectors (hard wired type excluded) between power pedestal and the shore power cord not between the power cord and the 5w exterior wall plug. I have a Carriage and use the dog bone style surge protector.

I got the Progressive with the remote meter and installed the meter inside the rig, but got a second meter kit from Progressive and mounted that meter in the rear compartment near the 50 amp receptacle on the outside RV wall. I can check voltage, errors etc., before I deploy slides, etc.
