We have a Thetford toilet model #42054 in our 2010 Cameo 35sb3 that drips nears the foot pedal only when stepped on to flush. It appears to come from the valve. Do I need to replace this part to fix it and if so how hard is it to doThanks Koop :

Sometimes if the toilet has sat for while all that is needed is to remove the valve parts and clean everything inside and coat the O-rings with some silicone grease and reinstall. Here is a link on Amazon for a kit with all new valve parts and a floor gasket.Shouldn’t take more than an hour to remove the toilet and replace the parts. Easier just to pull the toilet out and do the repair on the bench. Also I would go to Lowes or HD and install a shark bite shut off valve at the floor so you can remove the toilet in the future and not have to shut all the water off or incase it tries to overflow like that model is known to do. We changed ours out to a Dometic toilet years ago due to constant problems with the Thetfore. Here is a pic of the shut off valve.

Shut off valve is a great idea – met someone where a toilet valve was leaking and flooded trailer. We had trouble with our Thetford toilet, and extended warranty provided us with a Dometic for our $50 deductible.- Captainkoop
Thanks to all your replies., I ordered replacement parts and will also install a shut off valve. Great idea- Retiredfire
Dometic 310 or 320 is a significantly better toilet and comes with a sprayer if desired. Therford’s just leak and don’t hold water in the bowl.- Running_Bear
We had problems with our Thetford to toilet and repair was a nightmare. I ended up dumping it and got the Dometic 320 and never looked back. It is far superior to the OEM toilet.B.W.Gentry
