We took delivery of our LS36fw March 2014. It had fresh tires dated 40th week of 2013. So later this year they will be 7 years old. Current mileage is 16k. I keep them inflated to 115psi and they are always covered when not in use. The tires are Goodyear 17.5 G114. Great reputation but like any tire age will get to them often before mileage.
I have made the decision to replace them with the popular Sailun S637. I have been following a few forums for info on the Sailun and have yet to read a negative comment. In fact, a few posts said they were preferred by flat bed hot shot drivers over GY and other brands. The price is nearly 2/3 less than the GY.
I’m planning to replace them in the Spring. They look incredible and show no signs of any uneven wear, sidewall cracks, etc. I have heard always replace tires no longer than 7 years so I will be time and I want to do it before hot weather.
I can’t justify the cost of the GY when the Sailun has every bit as good a reputation as GY and others costing much more particularly considering I’m not a full-timer. Granted, one does not have to be a full-timer to have a tire issue!
Does anyone feel I should replace sooner and should NOT get the Sailun tires. Thanks, Phil
