- Hello all,
It’s me again – I am the owner of a 2008 Carrilite 36sqb and I am having problems operating the water heater. I have a constant flow of water, flipped the breaker for the water heater and flipped the switch in the bathroom on then went outside to flip the switch on the exterior of the camper, where I have my hose conncection for drinking water. It has been on for a day and no hot water, is there a way to see if the burner is lighting?Posted: 9:17 AM – Mar 10, 2014Not sure how yours is set up. Mine has two switches inside. One is for the electrical operation and the other is for using LP. I also have a switch on the water heater itself that controls the electric side. If you are using the LP function then it doesn’t matter if the breaker is on, you only need to turn the switch with the red indicator light on and have LP in your tanks and the valve turned on. You will be able to hear the burner. When using the electric side you have to have the breaker on, outside switch on and inside switch on. Here are a few pics that show the switches. Hope this makes sense.Chip
Posted: 9:29 AM – Mar 10, 2014Be sure to check if your water heater is not bypassed. You will get full flow at all faucets but no HOT water. There should be 3 valves at the heater, upper and lower valves need to be open and middle valve closed. If this is the case, and you turned the electric heater on you have probably burnt out the heating element.Posted: 9:49 AM – Mar 10, 2014There is also a RESET switch on the water heater under the black rubber cover. You can see it on the above photo from Chip.We had to replace the electric switch this year.

Posted: 3:11 PM – Mar 14, 2014Since you speak of breakers, I’m assuming you’re trying to get hwh working on electric. If it was turned on when the hwh was empty for winterizing, the heating element may be burned out. Happened to us when DW turned on the heater before I’d had a chance to check the tank was filled. The elements are inexpensive and easy to replace, just check who makes your hwh.Posted: 3:59 PM – Mar 14, 2014Her water heater is now working. I spent an hour with her on the phone the other day. It was in bypass when she first fired it up. She got it full and she tested it on the LP side and it worked fine. She picked up a new element and she watched a couple youtube videos on how to safely replace it.Chip
