I saw somewhere not sure where. Water from the tires were making that happen. They put mud flaps on the rear axle. Wish I knew where I saw it a few years ago. I have not had that problem.

You would think with the mounting location they could have designed something a little better to protect the pump and tank from water spray.

NAPA sell the mud flaps you need. 12×24 with just a bit of trimming on the top of one side, and a 1-inch by 2-inch notch for the fender well. Easy install if you remove the rear wheel.

Pretty disappointing how poorly the reservoir is made for the Bigfoot leveling system. With no means of support and only self tapping screws its a wonder everyone doesn’t have water in the rear legs.

My remedy. May do the second tank a little different than this one. Got rid of the belly in the top so we’ll see.

Can you tell us what we are looking at with each of these photos?
I have had problems with the Bigfoot jacks retracting. On the right rear, repeated lowering (left side worked fine), and retracting eventually got the right one up (about 1/4″ movement per cycle).
When I unhooked recently, I lowered the front jacks and then couldn’t get the left one to retract to level the trailer. I ran it to full extension and then it retracted normally (although there was some squealing). Has anyone had similar experiences and what was your solution?

The first 2 pictures are where the tank and the pump meet. As you can see there is a big belly below the pump where the tank had sunk in between the mounting screws for the pump acting as a funnel for water to get into the tank. The next 3 pictures are what I did to get rid of the belly in the top of the reservoir. I added some aluminum angle and extra screws to push the top of the tank back up into place eliminating the belly. You may want to check to make sure you don’t have water in the system. The only time I had problems is when it was freezing and ended up with ice. Can’t say your problem is related but doesn’t hurt to check.

After reading your post about the rear jacks I thought I should have a look at mine , on my lifestyle the pump assembly is way up in the cavity behind the wheels , so to check or ad fluid you basically have to drop the whole assembly down which entails removing the wires to the solenoid and mine were rusted pretty bad and the nut holding the wire started to spin and I couldn’t get it off, do you guys think that the solenoid is toast now or will it still work ? By the way, the reservoir was a very muddy looking color and not at all red like the trans fluid should be , so mine were letting water in , so I will flush everything out and put new fluid in , I can see the design of the reservoir is flawed, should be metal and a better o-ring to seal things up. I will be checking the other rear jack also ! Any ideas on my solenoid ? Or where to get a new one if need be ? Thanks

This is where I purchased my replacements after having the same problem getting them apart. https://www.lvelectronics.com/Search/Results?id=634-1241-212-02#group=jplist-productlist&paging=0-12 If you do not correct the issue with the top of the reservoir you will continue to get water in the system. When I reinstalled the pumps I use black RTV around the base of the pump. I also sprayed Fluid Film on all the connections in hopes that they will come apart the next time I have a need to remove the pump. Now the problem I have is when the leg gets to the ground it does not lift a little as it should. May have to take the cylinder apart to see if there is pitting in the cylinder allowing the fluid to get past the seals on the rod.

As far as getting the wires off I split the nuts to get them off. I was able to save the solenoids on the second leg I took down because I knew what to expect. I guess you could test your but once the post is loose and spins if it still works now I doubt they will for long. As bad as the fluid looks you will need to take everything apart to get it all cleaned out. In earlier attempts I made a suction canister using a 5 gallon bucket with lid, some tubing and a shop vac which I used to suck the water filled fluid out and then refilled with a quart bottle and some tubing to refill. It fun owning an RV isn’t it? I checked into getting new tanks and was told that it was no longer available and would have to buy the larger tank as well as a new mounting bracket to accommodate the larger tank.

Have you checked the fluid reservoir in each leg? Have checked all connections are secured and not corroded?

To whom and to what part are you responding? If it is to me my system works other than not building the proper pressure when grounding the rear legs to make them shut-off. This could be a problem with the pump itself or the seals in the cylinder allowing fluid to bypass top to bottom.

I had to lower the reservoir all the way down to check the fluid and everything was so dirty and gummed up I had to take it apart to clean them up , the one reservoir was half water and trans fluid , and the other one was ok, just fluid , so it wasn’t leaking. It’s a very poor design ! I think I will try using RV proflex and seal all around the flange on the pump housing, the other alternative would be to have a shop make up 2 aluminum reservoirs
Aimlesswander, I have ordered two new solenoids as I had to cut the nuts off to free the spade terminals , and as I live in Canada there are no Bigfoot dealers up here and these particular solenoids are like hens teeth here, so they are coming via Amazon . The second pump housing came apart ok , and it didn’t seem to be so rusted up . Thanks for everyones help !!
