Water pump replacement?

It appears to be time to replace the water pump. Any recommendations?

I looked at the Flojet quiet quad II and the Shurflo Revolution. There’s less than $10 difference in price, does anyone with experience think one is significantly better than the other?

Also, while I’ve got things apart, is it worthwhile to add an accumulator tank?

        Thanks,
        Cliff

I don’t have experience with the pumps but added an accumulator tank and am very pleased with the results. I can flush the toilet 3 times now at night or run the sink for an extended time without waking up the whole neighborhood. I bought a tank at Lowes and installed it under the kitchen sink.

I went with the Shurflo Revolution but can’t remember why. One thing I did do was buy 2 of them, so I’m carrying a spare.

I should have posted earlier. I wound up with the Flojet because it was available sooner.

It’s okay. It’s about the same as the Shurflo it replaced. I may try to figure out a better isolation mount. I sometimes get a bit more noise and vibration than I’d like.

Why did you need to replace it?

Check valve on my OEM pump gave way and caused some minor flooding. I don’t think I used the pump since I stay on campground water, so it just broke loose one day.

I just had the same problem. They put on a new one and it does the same thing. I’ll be looking for that 1/2″ brass backflow preventer. One thing I do now since I generally dont use the pump is to keep the drain open on the tank so if the thing does decide to flow back, the water goes outside.

Leaving the drain open makes sense.

I found another plastic backflow valve in my washer/dryer closet and replaced that with a brass valve before that blows up and floods the rig. It’s amazing to me the cheapo stuff they put in these things, no matter what you pay. RVs remind me of how American cars were built in the 1970s.

Fulltimer50, I use the pump all the time with my RO system. During a travel day my pump ran dry for a couple of hours. After that, I started to hear what sounded like a bearing going. I did a quick swap before it failed completely.

Instead of worrying about a back flow, do what I did. I installed a shut off valve after the pump, and when ever I am using shore water I have the valve off. If I am disconnected from shore water and will be using the pump, then I turn the valve on. I had to replace my Surflow 2 times before I came up with this idea, and it works great, but did take some time to install with conversion connectors.

I used a shutoff valve. A one way check valve can be used also.
